I couldn't seem to get any good photos today *sigh*. I think it's the jeans, I swear they look more flattering in real life, or I think they do anyway...! I wanted to try out the 70s thing with flares and the new camel cardie seemed to work with that, so I thought these slightly flared jeans might work. They are annoyingly slightly too big on my hips, we have here a case of vanity sizing again. I bought them in 2009 in America, and according to sizing charts I should be a US 6, but having tried those on, and them falling round my ankles (and I was a bit bigger then than I am now) I tried on a 4. I bought those because I seriously didn't think I could wear a size 2 because that's the apparent equivalent of a UK 6, and I was definitely a 10 then. Crazy.

Anyway, enough with the rambling, I wanted to do something a little different today. Firstly I want to say THANK YOU so much to all my followers! I've finally reached the milestone of 100 followers (plus 13 on Bloglovin') and I'm so happy about it =D And secondly, since I don't have any good photos today and I'm having a really really bad day with my Costochondritis (seriously feels like a car hit my chest) I decided to do an inspiration post with a twist, films! I've been getting a lot of inspiration from films recently, so I'm going to do a few posts with film inspiration, starting with this one.Lolita (1997)
I read this book a few years ago, and despite the disturbing subject matter (middle aged man falls in love with a 12 year old girl), it is so well written, every word seems to have been thought about meticulously, and it's so poetic and beautiful. So I reread just recently, and decided I should watch the film (there is also a 1962 version I'm yet to see). I've been massively inspired by the vintage, summery outfits Dolores wears in it, especially the red lips, heart shaped sunglasses and gypsy style crop tops, and also the braided hair styles, so here's my pick of them:
I've been thinking about how to recreate that sort of carefree, vintage style without looking too 'child-trying-to-impersonate-adult-ish' (if that makes sense!) and I've come across a couple of awesome things like this bikini by Marc Jacobs (oh how I wish I could afford it!) and this photo from Tumblr which I think is a playsuit, but not sure. If it is a playsuit, it reminds me of the pale blue one from the film which sort of looks like that at the back.
I actually bought some vintagey style red sunglasses the other day which I'm sure you will see a lot of when it warms up! And there's the halter-neck playsuit I got at the Vintage Fair the other week, so I really excited about wearing these =)
Well, I'll be back soon with more, I hope you enjoyed having something different to read and whatnot, let me know if you did or not!Love,
