Another guest post from another fabulous Lovely Ones lady, Michelle from Locked Out, warm welcome to her please!
Hi everyone! My name is Michelle and write Locked Out. When Sian asked me to do a guest post, I was really flattered – Sian is one of my absolute favorite bloggers.
I thought for a long time about what I wanted to write about – and eventually, I decided to list what I’ve
learned from fashion and fashion blogger.
1. My legs just look better in high heels.
I was, unfortunately, not blessed with height. I’m 5’2” with a long torso. Flats are good for my
comfy days, but I have finally accepted that fact that my muscular calves really look their best
with a little height boost.
2. Belts are my best friend.
I’m not much of an accessories girl – I lose rings, necklaces irratate my since, and bracelets get
in the way of my writing and taking notes. Belts are one way for me to spice up an outfit and
provide a little more visual interest. I am currently in the market for colored belts, and maybe a
metallic, sparkly belt.
3. It’s nice to feel included.
When I was younger, in high school, I felt really excluded from fashion – I just didn’t see girls like
me in magazines, or in movies, or in music videos When I started reading fashion blogs a few
years ago, however, I felt like I was finally finding real girls like me who loved fashion. Quirky,
pretty, eclectic girls! By feeling included in the fashion world, I began to dress to my strength,
get more creative, and have ideas and inspiration behind all of my outfits.
4. Everyone looks better in color.
Don’t get me wrong! I love wearing black and gray, but they are my defaults. Deep down, I know
I feel, and look, a lot better in colorful outfits. Walking around like a physical ray of sunshine,
even in the dead of winter, can brighten up any day.
5. If you want to have a fashion blog, go for it!
I get lots of emails about girls wanting to start a blog, but being unsure of if they’ll fit in. My
response is always to just go for it, to start now! I started Locked Out totally on a whim almost
two years ago (I ended up switching to a “new” blog in December). I love being able to have
a hobby that akes me so happy! Yes, it takes a long time to gain readers… but the best part of
having a blog is the community that comes with it. The support I receive from my blogging
friends is amazing and I wouldn’t trade that support for 100 more followers!
So there you, five things I have learned from fashion and blogging. Thank you for reading!
You can read more of what I have to over at Locked Out. Thank you to Sian for featuring me!
XO Michelle
Yes! Being the colourful ray of sunshine in winter… I love that so much, I know exactly what you mean 🙂 I’m so glad the blogging community feels welcoming to you!
Such a lovely guest post!
These are great tips, haha – I’ve also recently discovered the virtues of wearing heels to elongate my height as well.
