Florida Part 2: Harry Potter!

DSC09112

Oh gosh I have so so many posts to do right now, I’m going to be going on my Florida posts for ages, but I wanted to intersperse them with outfit posts, but I’ve got other ideas too!! Goodness it’s hard work! I wanted to do a post because I went shopping today to get an outfit for my cousin’s Christening and about what I bought, but I suppose I can save that until after the Christening so you can see me wearing the outfit, I properly love the dress, it’s so pretty and vintage looking despite the fact that it’s from Dorothy Perkins =)

Now I have some serious awesomeness to talk about: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Islands of Adventure! To put it simply, it is amazing…and busy, but still amazing! We had tips to get there first thing as quickly as possible, which we did, and still had almost a two hour queue to get on the ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. It has got to be one of my favourite theme park rides now, it was exciting and little scary (nearly getting hit by the Whomping Willow!).

And there’s the town of Hogsmeade itself which you walk through to get to Hogwarts, complete with the Hogwarts Express, Ollivanders, the post office with owls, Dervish and Banges, toilets that are haunted by Moaning Myrtle (listen carefully!) and of course Butterbeer, see that below!! We were quite amused though because the town of Hogsmeade you could actually say is right near where we live! The station in the films is only about 15 miles from where I live, so we say that that town is Hogsmeade =D Another fun Harry Potter fact: J K Rowling’s cousin was a monk at my school (not sure if he still is, he could have been one of the ones I know, but they didn’t tell us!) and she actually came to visit him there before she wrote the books and was apparently inspired by my prep school, a castle (see here and here), for Hogwarts =)

Note I’ve got my glasses on here =D So we spent the day around all of Islands of Adventure, which was awesome as always, and Beth and I finally got to go on the Hulk! Last time we queued for a while then it got shut down because of a technical fault and before that we’d always been too scared, but it was amazing! One of the best rollercoasters! We ended up having a mid-afternoon meal instead of lunch and tea, so we went to Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Co. Restaurant which has awesome food, and fun Forrest Gump (one of my sister’s favourite films) stuff in it =)

Funnily enough my school was partly inspiration for Hogwarts as well, you can see the turrets from the coffee shop she wrote the first book in. This post is making me desperate to go over there, I cried like a baby watching the last film! Awesome photos xo

I was looking forward to the posts about Harry Potter! I was so excited when I read that they built the place. I desperately want to go! It looks amazing! Major envy 😀

So jealous! Going to this Harry Potter part of Universal Studios is on my bucket list. I got excited enough when seeing platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross years ago. Do they still have that there? I hope so.
