Hello everyone! I’m Michelle from over at Locked Out! I’m doing a guest outfit post for Sian while she’s in Florida (lucky!)… I decided this was the perfect opportunity to show off my rock-obsessed roots.

In my day-to-day life I am a quite writer-type who wears nude-colored rompers and occasionally glasses. But when the sunsets, I am a rocker chick with a bad attitude and way too much glitter make up.
Okay, not really. I just really like red and black buffalo plaid.
When I was in high school, I went through a brief period where I was completely obsessed with Joan Jett. Like, die-hard obsessed. I would look at pictures of her and started to acquire pieces of clothing that I deemed “Joan Jett Appropriate”, which may have included a tank top worthy of a 1970s skating rink and a series of grungy looking tee shirts. The bracelets I’m wearing in these photos are a remnant of those days.
My delusions of grandeur regarding my rocker aesthetic were short-lived. At some point, I realized that I just didn’t have it in me to be tough. The mere thought of head butting someone or being in a mosh pit makes me feel a bit panic-stricken. I did, however, have it in me to have a few “tough” pieces in my wardrobe, that I could put on and pretend, if only for a day, that I was secretly very tough.
And so, lovelies, this little dress is my main “rocker chick” piece. I love it for it’s plain, comfortable top and it’s balloon-style, buffalo plaid bottom. Also: pockets, for carrying all my tough-girl essentials, like lipstick and tiny whiskey bottles. At the end of the day, I can peel this pretty dress off and, the next day, transform back into my romper-wearing, kitten-heel loving self.
Do you have a fashion alter-ego that you like to dress up in occasionally?
Thank you so much to Sian for the opportunity to do a fun guest post! You can read more about what I have to say over at my blog, Locked Out!
XO Michelle
I used to be a total tomboy in my teens and sometimes I still like to dress “tough”. It’s a bit harder whilst in a skirt but hey haha… I’m a big fan of this red and black plaid too, I have a fun button-down in it.
