Rust and Polka Dots

I had a day off from working today!! I was glad because I really hurt my thumb yesterday coring pineapples!! It sounds weird but there’s like this big corkscrew device that you have to twist through the pineapple to core it and skin it, and it also cuts it into twirly slices too, and it’s hard work!! I only did about 8, but by the time I was finished my thumb was swollen and my hands were red, stingy and hot, I think I may be allergic to pineapples because I once had a horrid stomach reaction thing to pineapples that ended up with ambulances and hospital, but I won’t go into that now!! I think I’ll have to get that checked out though!

I had an AWESOME night last night with some of my best friends from school, Charley, Rosie and Fran (pretty sure you’ve seen them in my photos before =D). Unfortunately I forgot to take my camera, so no pics, but we went round to Charley’s house for a little dinner party. We each provided food, so I took so tomato and red pepper soup (I would give the recipe but I kind of just made it up, well actually I literally just made it up, but it worked!), Charley made bread and stuffed chicken wrapped in parma ham/bacon (we ran out of some!) with veg (also wrapped in parma ham!), Fran made chocolate mousse, and Rosie provided dips, crisps and strawberries from the strawberry farm she works at (awesome job, right?!). So we had a lot of food, and we were all pretty full! But it was all lovely, and we all talked and gossiped for hours, so a really lovely night overall. I love seeing home friends for catch ups like this, but it’s so difficult to get us all together at once because we all seem to book things that clash!

Rust Top: Forever 21
Polka Dot Shorts: c/o Matalan
Floral Brogues: New Look
And now onto the outfit, the awesome rust colour top from Forever 21 that I love. I swear I just keep throwing this on the whole time at the moment. Actually I think I might even wear it to work tomorrow! Oh I probably shouldn’t, I should be more creative really! New polka dot shorts that I already love. And of course the floral brogues that kill my feet but look oh-so-beautiful! I actually didn’t even do anything or go anywhere in this outfit, but I still like to look my best even when I’m just sat at home doing nothing. It makes me feel so much better about myself. I’ve realised that my philosophy of getting dressed everyday is that I dress my best, just as if I might bump into someone I haven’t seen for years and might want to impress, or as if I might get photographed by some street style photographer (unlikely, but who knows?!). I don’t know why this should count when I’m sat at home, but I still dress up even for that.

I love getting together with friends just to hang out, eat lots of food and have a good time. Those shorts look really good on you, super cute.

I get all dressed up, makeup and all, even if I’m not going anywhere. It can be the weekend and I could technically spend all day in my pj’s but I still go through it all… ’cause you never know. You might suddenly get invited out to lunch or out dancing or SOMEthing could happen. Best be prepared and looking good while you’re at it!

You know how I love polka dots!! Those shorts are cute and you look amazing. That top is really similar to my mint green one (that I also wear all the time… if I get surprised with a trip somewhere, I automatically put it on!)
