Book Swap: any takers?

Hey guys!! I have a proposition for you all. A lot of us personal style bloggers seem to be very similar people (at least in the group of bloggers I seem to know!), and I’ve noticed a lot of us have a common theme in what like: of course we like clothes, personal style and often vintage style; but we’re also occasionally quite ‘nerdy’ people, we like to be busy with whatever we do, keep well organised, and often like academic pursuits such as reading. Now I know at least a few of you who’d possibly be interested in this, so I’m going to send out a few emails to ask you about it, but I’m sure there are some of you who might be interested in it and I don’t know who you are!
So, my idea is a Book Swap. I was originally going to go with it just being UK based, but you know what, a paperback book isn’t that heavy, it won’t be that expensive to ship! I had a couple of ideas on how this could work if I got enough people involved: the first would be that I’d pair everyone involved up with someone else and you’d just directly swap a book with each other; or second (and I think I like this idea best!), a sort of circuit swap: this would work best with about 6 people (so if there are more there could be groups), where each person picks their favourite book and sends it out to another person, who then reads it and after a set amount of time (say a month) sends it on to the next person in the circuit, that way your book would be back to you in about 6 months and you’d have received 5 other books over that time. We could all post a review on the books we’ve read too so we can see what everyone else thinks of your pick!
So what do you all think?? Is it something you’d be interested in, or do you know someone who’d be interested? Let them now about it too! Either leave a comment below or email me at sianhannahthomas[at] to let me know you’re interested in it =)

That’s a great idea! I’d love to take part, but I’m afraid I only have Dutch books 🙁 x

  3. January 19, 2012 / 3:28 pm

    I’d do that! Definitely 😀 If that’s OK, I know I don’t blog about fashion ^^ xx

I really dig the idea, but I have a feeling nobody else would enjoy my favourite book. Cyber-punk science fiction with a crude male protagonist, explosions and sex doesn’t seem marketable to most style bloggers XD Hopefully you can get this going though, that’d be rad.

this sounds like such a fun idea! the post office by my house just shut down and it’s a horrible bear to get to any other ones right now 🙁 plus i’ve got to keep my extra-curricular reading commitments to a minimum at the moment!
but i’d love to hear what you all are reading if you’re willing to share!

    • January 20, 2012 / 5:05 pm

Thanks for your reply!! I’ll definitely be putting up some more reviews, and hopefully everyone else involved will be too, so you’ll be able to see those =) If you want to be involved in the future then let me know! I’ve got a few others who might take part later because they’re so busy now.

Definitely count me in Sian, though I’ll definitely have more time when I finish uni. I’ll also be in the States this summer so I could help with the US branch and you could do the UK branch, does that make sense? I’m really excited about this!
