Okay guys, it’s time for me to do something I probably should have done a long time ago: a shopping ban (cue ominous music…). I have been shopping and buying faaar too much recently. I realised I had some money after Christmas, I’d saved up more than I thought and then I got given some for Christmas, coupled with the fact that over the holidays I manage to save up a bit more by living at home, and I *accidentally* spent a little more than I’d like of it! Blame it on the Office shoes sale – 4 pairs of shoes for £40, yes please! (Three pairs are heels, and one pair is for summer so I won’t have to buy any then!). Blame it on the ModCloth Cabin Fever sale yesterday (70% off!) and the fact that they now ship to the UK for a lot cheaper than they used to: I didn’t even know about the sale until it appeared on Twitter, so I hadn’t prepared myself for buying anything, but I really really thought it was a good opportunity to get some clothes off my favourite website a lot cheaper than usual (plus the exchange rate is good!). Then recently I had a little eBay spree bidding on several things, and I’ve been shopping with my sister too.
So, I’ve decided to set myself a challenge, and if you know me, you know this will be a massive thing for me and very difficult: one month, no shopping. Ok, so this only includes things I don’t really need: clothes, shoes, jewellery and make up. So my shopping ban is going to run to the end of February (so more than a month, five and a half weeks!) and I’m going to set myself some strict rules so as not to be tempted.
Shopping Ban: One Month
1. No excuses!! (If you read what I wrote above, everything has an excuse!! Well, no more: “But I need it…”, or “It’s on sale…”)
2. No ‘window’ shopping – this includes websites, so no peeking at the sales on ASOS, Missguided or Topshop.com =(
3. Post an update on Friday every week of how it’s going and any tips I might have.
Now wish me luck everyone, I’m really going to need it!! The programme I have playing in the background on the TV right now is talking about Spring Fashion and I’m so tempted already (I love Spring colours!!), but I’m going to wait until the end of February. If I happen to see anything I love before then, it’ll just have to wait (or someone’ll have to buy it for me…hint hint…haha!!). Oh and if any of you want to join me in this challenge, let me know, we can do it together and keep each other motivated haha =D Also anyone who wants to do it alongside me will get featured in my Friday updates. Well, here it goes!!
You can do it! Sounds like you really did a lot of shopping. My biggest weakness is for Etsy. I use the excuse of “but it’s going to someone who deserves it!” which is how I convince myself to buy hand-tie-dyed dresses from Thailand and other such things heh. Good luck 😀
Ohhhh you’re brave!! I’m trying to cut down, eventually a ban but i’m slowly cutting back. Good luck!

Good luck!!! I find it very difficult to refrain from shopping, even when I don’t go anywhere. Online shopping is so tempting for me!!
I put myslef on a year long no clothes/accessories shopping ban and completeed it on New Years Eve! Not a single item for a year! It was such a huge achievement and I did save myself a fair bit of cash. I’m so proud of myself and it has made me see my wardrobe and clothes in a different way, I will shop far more selectively in the future. So that being said I think a shopping ban is a great idea. you will feel good after if you manage to stick to it. Good Luck!
