Style Icons #1 Emma Pillsbury

I’ve decided to do a series of posts on my Style Icons that influence my style daily. A lot of my inspiration comes from the blogosphere, of course, so I thought you’d like to see other things outside of that which inspire me everyday!

The first person I picked as one of my style icons is someone from one of my favourite shows to watch (yes, I am a Gleek I’m afraid), Glee! And it’s Emma Pillsbury. I adore her pulled together style, how everything she wears has that very grown up, sophisticated look that still manages to look fun and playful at the same time. The structured skirts, both pencil and full, which are usually a slightly longer length are very cute, but at the same time very functional. I love the way that she pairs them with shirts and blouses, often in a similar shade of a bright colour.

Colour and shape are key in Emma’s wardrobe: she is feminine in her style, but keeps it fun with bright colours and prints, even sometimes clashing her prints! And of course, there’s the signature sweater clips on her iconic cardigans, so cute!! Her blouses are often pussybow style, worn underneath cardigans with the bow sticking out and with a structured full skirt, and sensible heeled Mary Jane shoes. She often adds something unique to her look with a piece of bold jewellery or a statement belt.
Her style is definitely something I aspire too, particularly as I’m getting older. I want a look that’s slightly more sophisticated, appropriate for the work place and yet still stylish and fun. I think incorporating colours and prints with bold jewellery, and a more structured look is definitely something I want to try out.

I don’t watch Glee any more purely because I got SO far behind, but Emma was always my favourite character style-wise 🙂 x

Thanks for your comment on my psot about Emma! I love her character so much, and I absolutely adore the way they put her style together on the show. I’m definitely a fan of her mixing shades of the same colour as well!
