I recently received my Matalan Autumn Winter 2012 Lookbook, and as usual with their collections, I fell in love. I was first re-introduced to Matalan a long time back, when my blog had only been up and running about 6 months. They were the first company to contact me, and I was a little scared! They asked if I wanted a copy of a Lookbook and to send my address so I could get it. I was reluctant to reply at first because I was unsure about the whole sponsoring thing on blogs, plus I was scared to give away my address! But I did, and I was so surprised to see my Lookbook arrive in a gorgeous satchel with a dress inside – I didn’t know these things happened!! I paged through that Lookbook over and over, feeling super ‘fashiony’ because I had a Lookbook. That began my love affair with Matalan. It was a brand I was aware of when I was younger, a few friends had things from there, but it wasn’t somewhere I would go. Now, half my outfit posts will include something from Matalan. I’ve been super lucky to have received a few pieces from them in the past, plus be invited to Aintree with them, and I’ve also stocked up my wardrobe and half my house with clothing and home items from Matalan. It’s not unusual for me to have their New Arrivals section open on my laptop, or for me to be popping into Matalan every few weeks.
So here are my picks from this season’s Lookbook, I’ve included a few of the full outfit pictures, then some of my favourite pieces themselves.
I’m loving slouchy knits at the moment, particularly with pencil skirts which are going to be ‘my thing’ once I start teaching. Plus I love the pleated skirt and the fact that you can see the socks through it!
Structured pieces, capped toe shoes, mixed prints. I’m loving that last dress and I just can’t put my finger on why, I don’t think I’d get much wear out of it though.
Party pieces – sparkles, sequins, metallics, pleats and banana heeled vintage style shoes – loving these.
Workwear – loving the burgundy shades. (I ‘accidentally’ already bought some toe capped heels in Primark recently!).
Colourful pieces – couldn’t resist the dogtooth pencil skirt; owls are apparently in this season which is awesome because I love the owl as standing for the goddess Athena (obviously…); would love these shorts for Summer, I’ve got to admit.
Cannot resist that collar; I’m loving ankle boots and really wanting some like these for the upcoming season; that leather jacket = love. Seriously, it looks super expensive but is only £35!
Hope you’ve enjoyed my picks from the Matalan AW12 Lookbook, let me know what your favourite is!!
love this collection! Especially the navy skirt in the first photo, looks like an American Apparel circle skirt! Also love the dog tooth skirt!
Oh I need that dogtooth pencil skirt in my life !!
I really love Matalan from what I’ve seen on your blog and in this lookbook (pencil skirts, slouchy knits and glitter heels? Count me in!), so sad they don’t ship to Belgium 🙁 xx
I just wanna go and shop looking these.
xoxo
