Every so often I like to take a break from my normal outfit photos where I stand and pose in my garden/driveway/(graveyard), and Ben and I take the camera with us when we go for a walk with dog and take pictures wherever we go. Recently this has included the moors and the corn fields above my house, and today I bring you the Roman Camps. These are about 6 or 7 miles from my house (which is pretty close by North Yorkshire standards) and called Cawthorne (or Cawthorn apparently) camps. Of course, I find them super interesting, particularly as Roman is my thing. I’m dying to dig them up or something, but apparently that’s not allowed =P This is one of my absolute favourite places to walk (along with the moors, but this is pretty much on the moors) not only because of the fact that it’s an old Roman fort, but also because of the amazing views. I completely forgot to take photos of the views this time, but I’ll tell you, they’re stunning. It’s actually a lot closer to where I used to live, only a couple of miles away, and it’s just such a beautiful place.
It’s not often you see people walking around these places in floral dresses and wedge wellies, but you know, that’s just me! I often get the ‘tourist stare’ – I’m guilty of doing this to other people too though – you know, when you see someone stumbling through the field in a pair of shoes that are completely inappropriate for the mud, looking lost and confused, and you go: ‘Must be tourists.’ Yeh, people do that to me a lot simply because I’m in a floaty floral dress or something, whereas actually I’ll probably know the place a lot better than them. I’m often known to just take off my shoes and walk without them, I find it a lot easier, but that often gets me stares too, I can’t do anything right!!
Cardigan: New Look
Dress: New Look (sale)
Wellies: c/o Wedge Welly
This dress is, ahem, another new one. Sale though, I promise!! In fact not even that new, just new to the blog =D I’ve had it a couple of months and I got it in New Look in the sale down from £24.99 to £10, which is pretty good really. You can’t really tell from these photos, but it has the most amazing shape and fit on me, and it’s not super mini like everything else seems to be these days. I also didn’t even notice the back until I tried it on, but I love that too. And also, I’m pretty certain it has pockets!! (Can’t quite remember, but I think it does!). What is the blogger obsession with pockets anyway?! I know I’ve always loved things with pockets, and I thought I was just weird, but I so often see on blogs girls saying how much they love a dress or skirt because it has pockets. Jeans have pockets, shorts have pockets, we don’t get excited about those do we?! But when a dress does, we’re over the moon about it! Who knows?! (I’m not bashing on these people by the way, because I’m definitely one of them =D).
You might remember I got these awesome wellies last year and I’ve also worn them here. My family get so embarrassed by me in these – there they all are in their green wellies, then I come stomping along in a pair of bright red ones with wedges! They’re actually super comfortable and aren’t a problem on uneven ground at all. I’m pretty sure they’re probably supposed to be for like city wear in the rain or festival wear, but then again, this is me you’re talking about! Also just looking at that last post I linked to, I want it to be winter again!! I usually hate winter and cold and what not, especially this year I’ve been dreading its return because we’ve barely had a summer, but looking at those clothes and layering and fur coats and hats, I want to wear all that again! I think that autumn-love that I got last year has come back again! Well, let’s at least hope I get a nice hot birthday again like last year, that was crazy!!
Love,
Those boots are killers! hahaha. I love how you matched everything. It makes you look so bright and happy. I really liked these pictures. Lovely post.

What a perfect outfit, I love pretty girly dresses teamed up with wellies…who says you have to have trousers on to walk through the fields!

These pictures are lovely and that dress is gorgeous! I do exactly the same with inappropriate clothes on walks. But years and years ago, women would be going on walks through the fields with floor length dresses and petticoats underneath so it’s not really that strange at all.
These pictures are just completely gorgeous! Now, I just really want to find a field and take a bunch of pictures in it!

I love boots with dresses! Such a great look.
Great photos, the scenery is stunning! And I’m one of those pockets-on-dresses girls. I have no idea why they’re such a big thing, I don’t even put anything in these pockets.. Maybe it’s just good for posing on pictures?! 😀
