Thomas the Baker

You might remember a week ago I told you about my dad’s bakery and the online shop that was just being set up – well, it’s now live!
Thomas the Baker is my dad’s family’s baby – when my dad was about 15 or 16 (I’ll have to check that!), he, my uncle, my grandma and my grandad started baking and selling cakes out of their garage. My grandad had worked in the industry before, but decided to go out on his own. That was over 30 years ago, and now we have over 35 shops across Yorkshire (and just outside too!). Some of you know that I’ve worked in the main bakery over the holidays as well as in the office. It’s come a long way since they started up with just that one shop, known now as a rival for Greggs in our area!!
And just recently they’ve set up the website which is now selling things like the pictures above – at the moment it’s only a selected range, but there will be more to come! The top picture is a Belgian chocolate tiffin from the tray bakes range, we have all sorts of biscuits (I recommend the Oatie Cookies, despite not sounding terribly exciting, they are amazing!)
And above is a selection of loaf cakes and the Christmas range which is also available as hampers and gift boxes, perfect for Christmas presents for family or friends?!
Bear in mind that all of these are family recipes, all hand crafted by skilled bakers (ie. me….or not, I haven’t worked there since last year and then all I did was stick Smarties on buns and smear myself with chocolate, accidentally of course….). But seriously, nearly everything is hand crafted or finished, and a lot of things are old family recipes, tried and tested over several years. We’ve won loads of awards for mince pies, sausage rolls, cheese straws, etc.
And it’s all 10% off at the moment because we’ve just opened!!
So do me and my family a favour and at least have a little look over at the website! We’ll ship anywhere in the UK at the moment and hopefully over to Europe soon enough! So for now, UK readers, pop over to the website and maybe order a couple of things?! 10% remember?!
