Blog Award and Life Update

So, I do still exist, promise! Michelle really kindly tagged me in this post, and while I usually don’t bother doing these, this one looked fun =) I thought I’d best give you a life update before I put up all my answers though! So clearly I’ve been very busy lately, or I would have been around here more! With my day starting at work before 8am and finishing at 5pm, with the two weekly 10.15pm finish, with all the lesson planning, it was all pretty busy. Then it got a whole lot busier – it was exam week last week, so I’ve had around 40 exams to mark this weekend, and now it’s reports week, so I have to write reports on every student I teach. On top of that I had a Masters Proposal to do, the actual study is due in January, plus my standards file to build and lesson observing every Monday at a different school. And just to throw everything off a little, I got flooded in again yesterday, I accidentally backed up the wrong back ups of the reports I’d almost finished, deleting half of them, and my gallbladder has decided to kill me.
I’ve now completed all 60 or so of my reports and inputted them into the system with the marks and handed in my Masters Proposal. I was supposed to be going out for a meal with my House at school tonight but my gallbladder had been killing me all day, and it got so bad that the housemistress told me to go home! I’ve recently had a couple of days off because of the attacks being so bad, and I’ve had a hospital appointment where they basically told me I need it out now. They offered to do the operation this week, but I refused because I can’t miss more school, so it’s scheduled for immediately after I break up for Christmas. Christmas dinner and I are going to be having fun this year…=(
But aside from all that, all is good! I have some awesome new things to show you, so hopefully I’ll get some posts up soon and stop wittering about nothingness! So here are the answers to the questions Michelle asked, enjoy!

1. Books or e-reader? Why?
This is definitely a difficult question for me! I’ve always stood up for books, and I will never ever stop loving real books, but it’s just so much more efficient to have all your books on an e-reader. Although my Kindle is currently dead *sad face* and it’s impossible to get the books I need for school on an e-reader, so I’m still amassing my collection of books.
2. What’s your favorite magazine in the whole world?
I’ve recently stopped buying magazines, I get pretty much none at all now, because of the price and the fact that I have no time to read them! But my favourite currently has to be Company for the inclusion of bloggers and real life people.

3. What’s your most embarrassing moment?
Okay, so those of you that have been around here a long time or know me in real life will know that there is no single answer to this question for me! I do a ridiculous amount of embarrassing things pretty much every week. For example, a couple of weeks ago, I fell over on a hill at school in front of about 20 pupils then later that day managed to beep the horn on my car with my chest while getting into it as a group of Sixth Form boys went past (luckily none I teach!).
And for fun, let’s recall another embarrassing Sian story, from when I was at school: I managed to get the heel of my shoe stuck in a grate. My delightful friends (you know who you are!!) continued walking, then stopped to talk to some people a little further on and didn’t come back to help me. So there I was tugging and trying to get my foot out, when lessons ended, and out poured half the school, just filing past me. My teacher even stopped and shook his head at me and walked on! I then in desperation pulled my foot so hard that I brought the whole (metre long!) grate out of the ground, still attached to my foot! I finally manoeuvred the heel out of the grate, replaced it, took another step, and tripped backwards only to get my other foot stuck. Yep, graceful is the only word to describe it.
4. What’s your favorite food to eat when you’re sick?
Whatever’s in the house! If I’m off work ill, we don’t tend to have much food in the house because we’ve been buying cleverly recently and only getting what we actually need for evening meals and breakfast to save money. Downside is that when I get stuck at home (ie. floods again yesterday!), I end up eating the most random concoction of foods! Luckily I had enough yesterday to whip up a pasta with tomatoes, olives and capers.

5. What’s your favorite song to listen to in the bath tub?
Wellll, when I was at school (yes, every answer has a story for me =D), I used to do yoga. Our teacher would play relaxing music while we yoga-ed, and a result of that being one of my favourite things about school, I love that music for relaxing now. It pretty much just consists of Moby songs like Porcelain, Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad, Beautiful and Come On Baby.

6. When you’re driving or traveling, what do you daydream about?
Hmmm, tough one – I usually just listen to the radio, so I’m either singing along or listening to what they’re talking about, so not a lot really! Other than that, I’m thinking about the day ahead or what’s happened that day.

7. What’s one quote you live by?
There’s a new one I just found that I love: ‘Always be a first rate version of yourself rather than a second rate version of somebody else.’ And this isn’t exactly a quote, but I’ve pinned it on my board ‘Books/words’ so: ‘To keep going: make a 45 minute playlist and don’t stop until it does.’ I started doing this in my last year of uni and it seriously works, as long as you really don’t do anything else while the music is playing.

8. What’s one thing you want to work on with your blog?
Getting on with it! At the moment the blog and I are having a hard time due to my busyness, but we’ll get there =)

9. What do you wear on your off days?
This is something that has changed a little recently. On off days before now, I would usually wear something along the lines of the clothes you see on my blog. My blog outfits are always real ones and nothing special, so I tend to just wear those on off days too! But recently I’ve started wearing my Topshop jeans (stretchy and comfortable) and (shock horror!) a hoodie on my weekends. I know, I can’t believe it either!

10. How would you define your sense of style, or your blog’s sense of style?
Again, a difficult one. I like to think of my style as girly, feminine and slightly quirky. I like colours and patterns especially, particularly florals!

Okay, so the bloggers I pick to send this on to are:
1. Caroline from Stars and Butterflies
2. Rachel from Notes From My Closet
3. Fiona from Maid In Scotland
4. Char from T*rexes and Tiaras
5. Charley from The Gorilla, the Tortoise and Me (real life friend, go say hi to her!!)

If you are given the award:
1. Link and follow the blogger who awarded you.
2. Blog about the award.
3. Give the award to 5 other bloggers.
4. Answer the 11 questions I ask and give 11 of your own to the bloggers you award.
And here are my questions:
1. Which is your favourite meal of the day?
2. Would you prefer to receive flowers or chocolate?
3. What is your favourite item in your wardrobe?
4. What is your favourite Disney movie?
5. What’s your most embarrassing moment? (stolen from Michelle ;D)
6. Pizza or pasta?
7. If you could dine with anyone, who would it be?
8. Day in the country or night out on the town?
9. What is your biggest achievement? (it’s getting like a job interview here!)
10. Do you have a signature perfume?
11. What is your favourite way to do your hair?
I’ll be back soon, I promise!
Love,
