Fred the No-Nosed Reindeer

Well, look at this, I’m doing an outfit post. Unfortunately there are some not so good reasons behind the fact that I am able to be doing this outfit post. As a result of my gallstones, I’ve been signed off work until I get my operation done, meaning no teaching for the next two weeks. I was given a date for the operation, but unfortunately they had to cancel, meaning my operation date was moved forwards, then backwards, then to Christmas Eve, and finally to the date it is now, the 14th, so 9 days away. But in the meantime, I’d been slowly getting worse with the pain, and ended up at the Doctors yesterday because I was more or less in constant pain. I’ve now been told I’ve been making it worse by trying to work through it, it’s dangerous for me to drive with it, and I’ve been given painkillers usually given to women in labour. Yep, it can really be that bad (take a look here)! And I’m on a combination of anti-sickness, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic drugs at the same time too, so basically I shouldn’t be at school with all those either. I was so miserable about it yesterday because I felt so bad, like I was letting the school down. But they’ve been so good about it, so I’m feeling happier today. And the pain has actually diminished a little, probably because of my new combination of medication and due to the lack of stress and trying to work through it (oops!). But it means I am booooooored. I’ve got used to being super busy and not having a free moment to even read blogs, so what do I do now?! I’ve already put away all the washing up, washed up some more, done a load of laundry and hung it out, folded and put away another load of laundry, prepared some cover lessons, curled my hair and taken these photos. And it’s 3pm. What do I do tomorrow?!

Cardigan: New Look
T Shirt: Primark
Shorts: Matalan
Wedges: New Look
Anyway, I got these shorts at the weekend, along with a pencil skirt and a dress for work (when I go back) from Matalan. I picked up about 10 things to try on in there, but only ended up with three. Ben isn’t so fond of the leather shorts, he thinks they’re tacky, but I like them. As soon as I bought them I thought of Charlotte because she wore hers so awesomely last year. I planned to recreate this outfit since I have the same shoes which looked amazing with the shorts but discovered I’d left my black jumper (which is actually long sleeved unlike Charlotte’s) at home. So I tried on about six other things before settling on this outfit. I did have polka dot tights on too, but changed my mind about them later. And okay, to be perfectly honest, I am not wearing the shoes today, but then again, I’m at home all day doing nothing much, so I’m not wearing any shoes, so I thought I might as well put these on!

And so that the title of this post makes sense, meet Fred! He is a cute no-nosed reindeer from TK Maxx. Ben and I decided to decorate our house a little this year for Christmas since every other year we’ve not bothered because they’ve been more temporary flats. But this is our house now, so we thought it needed something, and we ended up with a six foot (fake) tree, lights, baubles, Fred, a Noel sign, a lantern and some more lights that we have hanging on the banister (will get a picture of those soon, they’re super pretty wooden cut out lanterns). I’m pretty impressed with our decorating, I must say. I’ve also made a studded orange with cloves because my sister and I do them every year (I’ll be doing more at home soon) and we have a Christmas smelling air freshener. Super Christmassy this year!! And I’m getting in there early as well because I only have a couple of weeks up here (or less) before I go home, so I wanted to have the decorations up for a while at least =)

Shorts and shoe twins! So happy you found some inspiration from my blog! I was SO obsessed with my leather shorts last winter- you should be able to find loads of outfits!
For things to do, while I was unemployed I watched a lot of TV (two series of Dexter!) and did lots of reading and blogging!

Poor you, that sounds awful. Hope everything goes ok with your operation on the 14th. Best thing to do in the meantime is to watch boxsets or awful daytime channel 5 films and eat mincemeat pies x

Wish you well with your operation…. Ouch!…..
You’re so chic! So pretty…and you have such a great sense of style.
Love your legs in the tights and leather shorts…… …You match perfectly…everything you wear…… Adorable, as you are!
Perfect balance. And your hair is over the top lovely……… I’ve always worn my hair almost as long myself……..just wish mine could look as gorgeous as yours…… what a lovely shade
I grew up in tights, being in ballet for 13 years. In fact, mom raised me rather androgynously, so I also wore tights under big sweaters and hip length tunics and such around the house growing up. Your lovely look reminds me of all those days….epsecially when the delivery man would come and I’d meet him at the door and he’s refer to me as Miss……
Oh, by the way, I’m a guy…and I love fashion as much as I love dance.
I’m traveling in Europe this fall,
It looks like you have the same affinity for tights as I have…..

I’ve been raving to my new friends about how much I love the tights/shorts look, so they encouraged me to try it myself…
and I have in a big way,….. denim cutoffs, high waisted shorts, even a romper…….
I will following your blog religiously….. thanks for sharing your lovely taste and your beauty

You look amazing, Sian! It’s great to see your outfit posts again, I’ve missed them (and Charlotte’s too)! I wish I look as good in shorts as you do. 🙂
