China Blue Take Two

I can’t really take all the credit for this outfit, here’s the story! I’d been lusting over this dress on the Oasis website for weeks. I kept going back and adding it to the basket, then not buying it, adding it, not buying it. Then I noticed Charlotte talking about how much she loved the Oasis recent pieces on Twitter…and a few days later, a picture which featured what looked exactly like the pattern of this dress. I just had to ask if it was it, and it was, and Charlotte told me I just had to get it! I was still debating over it, but then got a pay rise at work after passing my 3 month probation period (can’t believe I’ve been there that long!), so that made the decision for me. So I decided to treat myself to this gorgeous dress. Charlotte recently did an outfit post with the dress in a very similar style to how I would pair the dress with the denim jacket, but with converse, which is not a style I’d tend to go towards, but looks amazing! So here’s my version of wearing the dress – it’s just like old days with the clothes swap we were a part of, showing how we wear the same item different ways 🙂
By the way, the first title that came into my head for this post was China Blue, but I thought it sounded familiar, then realised I did a post only recently with the title ‘China Blue‘ so I had to change it! But it seems like I’m wearing quite a lot of blue patterned outfits recently, like this one for a post at Locked Out, the galaxy skirt outfit and my Fabb Bloggers Leeds outfit – blue seems to be my colour of the season!
Sparkling garbage
Just a quick note on the nails – the above is a picture from just after I’d finished them the day before these pictures, but you can sort of see them. I wore Barry M’s mint green underneath, one that I’ve had for years, and Orly’s sparkling garbage from HQhair.com on top. I’d seen a lot of people pairing the sparkling garbage with darker colours so I decided to lighten it up a little a get some pastels in there, what do you think?

I’ve suddenly started doing lots of posts in a row this week – go me! But really, I kind of feel I need to that, because I’ve been taking pictures quite frequently but not as frequently posting, meaning that I have a huge back up of posts to do, not to mention several reviews I have to put up too! When I got in from work today, I did a little spreadsheet of all the posts I have to do, and realised I have more than 20 I want to get up – crazy! So hopefully this will be an ongoing thing now, posting every day or every couple of days, so be prepared to see a lot more of me round here 😀 I’m glad I get the chance to blog again though. When I was teaching I barely had time to post a few times a month. Now that I have evenings and weekends again, I keep mentioning this, I’m spending time doing as much as I can! I’ve been behind on my reading this month (Monday’s post will round up all two of the books I’ve read this month!) because of my blog redesign which I’ve spent a lot of time on recently, but I’ve also been doing more housework here, started doing a bit of gardening too, done a bit of writing, and I’ve been doing some crafts too (which hopefully I will start selling soon!). Busy busy, but I like it! Ideally I’d like to spend more time on photography for the blog, but usually I want to get in from work and have tea, so end up ruining my outfit by then. And I’d like to start working on a bit more writing (despite the fact I do a lot of this at work!) and working on some Latin and Greek translations. I don’t want to lose my abilities in the languages, and maybe one day do something a bit more professional with translations or commentaries or something, but we’ll see with that 🙂
On a final note, I wore this outfit a couple of weeks ago (again!) when my grandparents came round to see our house then treated us to a meal at a local pub. It was a lovely evening and a yummy meal, and I managed not to spill food on my new dress, which is always a plus with me! This weekend we’re not doing much except babysitting Ben’s 2 year old cousin tomorrow night. I’m really excited to see him again, but a little worried I might break him or something – I’ve never properly babysat before for someone so young, but I’m really looking forward to it. Speaking of children, my aunty is expecting her little girl right now, her due date was 5 days ago, so any day now I’ll have another new baby cousin – way too excited!

What a lovely pattern on the dress! You look stunning, Sian! Red and blue is one of my favourite colour combinations, and you nailed it completely.

Think on the bright side – more backed up posts means you can take a mini blog break later in the summer. It’s always better to be well prepared 🙂

Congrats on the pay rise, definitely a great way to spend it! Lovely outfit, just wondering if that’s a new cardigan from new look? I’ve been looking for a relatively fitted, long sleeved red cardigan for ages and can’t seem to find any!

Thank you! Sorry, the cardigan is old – I got it at least three years ago! Primark tend to have a good selection of basic cardigans at most times if you live near one, and New Look sometimes have them, but not sure if they would still carry this style. I’ll keep an eye out though 🙂

That is a gorgeous dress, and I love all the red accents you paired with it! That’s awesome you were able to buy it after you wanted it so much!
