Sometimes I’m very lucky to have a dad who works in the food industry…like when we get to go to trade fairs and test out lots of fancy foods! A couple of weekends ago, we accompanied my dad the Speciality Food Fair at Harrogate. Technically it was so that he could check out lots of different food stuffs for the deli shop we own as well (for those that don’t know, my family runs Thomas the Baker, a chain of bakery shops in Yorkshire). But I like to think of myself as a ‘foodie’ now, although really I just like food, and lots of it, so I was really excited. We ended up trying everything from super hot chilli sauce to homemade marshmallows (they were my favourite) and venison chorizo. But one of the most exciting things for me was getting to see Stephanie Moon doing a demonstration on how to get the most out of leftover bits of food for delis. Despite the fact that I have very little to do with the bakery, let alone the deli, I still found it really interesting. Steph has worked with my dad before, and she’s featured on several cooking programmes which Ben loves to watch. So I made sure to pay close attention and tried to get lots of pictures of her food; they included ciabatta pizzas and Yorkshire tapas – very creative! Steph runs her own blog The Wild Cook too where she features her travels, food and her dog, Honey Moon!
After wandering around the food fair for a couple of hours and watching Steph’s demonstration, my dad decided to take us over to Rudding Park where Steph works as a chef. He’d been there before, but we’d never been. We just popped in to have a drink and wander around the gardens, so my sister decided to do some outfit pictures for me. It’s a hotel and so gorgeous – Ben said he might take me there for a treat one weekend, yay!
Polka Dot Dress: Outfit (sale) (can be bought at Dorothy Perkins)
Flats: Tesco Clothing
This dress is pretty new – Ben and I went down to Monks Cross at York the day before to have a look around and get some oven trays, so I decided to have a look in the sales. I ended up buying a few things including this dress in Outfit (I can’t remember which brand) for £15 and a crop top and some boyfriend jeans in TK Maxx – so different for me, I’ll have to show them to you sometime! I was surprised that the shape of this dress was so pretty because there were quite a few of it left in the sale. Usually when things go into the sale they’re a strange shape or something. I don’t think it comes across quite as well in the photos, and I’d have preferred to wear it without tights because that looked better, but the weather just wasn’t allowing for it – ah well, maybe another day (tomorrow maybe?!).
Love,
