Catching up a bit on lingerie reviews while I’m away – I actually have a couple of sports bra to show you too, but haven’t managed to properly try out one of them yet (despite having it for like 3 weeks…that’s how much exercise I do!). Anyway on to the review!
This has got to be one of the prettiest sets I’ve ever had in DD+ lingerie. I’d been hearing all about Tutti Rouge all over the lingerie blogosphere (which I follow just about as much as fashion/style blogs nowadays), and was dying to try some out myself. Unfortunately this is not the positive review ever though, but don’t worry, you’re going to get the full explanation.
I was sent the Betty set in a size 28FF and size 8 briefs. The delicate floral pattern with lace trims and pink bows is right up my street, so I was really happy to open the box and find this inside. When I tried it on the first time though, something seemed immediately wrong. The cups seemed to be far too small. I was really sad about this because it’s so pretty and didn’t want to hassle by asking for another size to try. The band was perfect, but the cups felt far too small, so I asked to size up to a 28H. And this where things went very wrong. Strangely the cups still seemed too small….in an H. And even stranger, it would not do up, no matter how hard I tried.
So it turns out that it’s the shape of the cup that isn’t right for me. I think what’s wrong is that the centre gore is fairly high and wide, whereas I seem to suit low (plunge) ones more. And I think the cup might be too shallow for me. It’s strange because I know that the 28FF does actually fit me, but it just looks like it doesn’t…weird! So conclusion, the set is beautiful, but the shape doesn’t work for me. Just to clarify though, I am only one shape, and just because it doesn’t work on me, doesn’t mean it won’t work on you. See below how it fitted on me (under a blouse so you don’t have to see the too-smallness!). It seems to sit low on my body and push the tissue upwards and outwards.
And the final thing I’ve got to say is about the band and how it was strange. I got both bras in a 28 band, but there was a huge discrepancy between the bands. While the 28FF was comfortable and fitted my underbust perfectly, the 28H would not, I repeat would not, do up. I’m not sure how that’s happened, but the band seems to be a different length in each. To figure this out, I measured each band, just to prove that I’m not crazy, and here are my results:
28FF – unstretched: 22.5in; stretched: 26in
28H – unstretched: 21in; stretched: 24in
Yep, pretty big difference really! If anyone else has this bra in a 28FF+ size, I’d love to know the measurement of your band because it’s a little strange. So in case anyone’s thinking of ordering, maybe size up in the band if you’re above a FF, but I can’t guarantee that. But here are the two sizes side by side so you can see the difference:
(28H on top of 28FF)
How strange for there to be such a difference in the same band size!
After reading your last bra review I decided to finally get my myself (and my mum!) properly measured. It was a revelation to my mum, she was WAY smaller than she thought band wise and I went down one band and up one cup size. Really liked the same Cleo Panache bra but unfortunately the shop didn’t have it in my size. Might order it though so thanks for the reviews 🙂
Really gorgeous set, but crazy different in size!

Really weird on the sizing.
I saw the whole collection up close at the Moda show in Birmingham last weekend and I have to say I was really impressed.
I think Tutti Rouge is a brand we’ll be seeing a lot more of in future.
Great blog and keep up the super work!

sizing tags have always made me shake my head in wonder. great taste in lingerie, though!
Uugh I’m so yearning for Betty, even though its cheap for what it is- it translates to a fair bit in New Zealand dollars and shipping’s not cheap. Its such a gorgeous set though and amazing size range!!
