It’s making me sad looking at these photos that my long hair is gone! I don’t regret it at all, in fact I really love my new hair and am thinking of going a little bit shorter even, but it still makes me sad that it’s not long and that I can’t curl it like this anymore! This outfit is from the weekend I mentioned a couple of weeks ago where I went home and had a BBQ with a load of family, friends and neighbours. I was kind of poorly (still am!), but still had a great time. Of course, I was way overdressed for a simple BBQ; in fact everyone else was in jeans. But there you go! I haven’t worn this shirt for a while – I bought it when I was teaching to be a good smart basic, but decided to pull it out again and casual it up a bit by tying it in a knot. I still have several pieces of clothing from when I was teaching that I’m planning to get rid of because I just don’t have smart occasions to wear them all any more. I literally have like 2 IKEA bags full of clothes, and I’ve even already given some away to my friend Charley, and some more will be going to some other friends soon!
White Shirt: George at Asda
Skirt: J. Crew
Heels: ASOS
Anyway, this is another of those crazy J. Crew items with crazy sizing. Again, it’s a size 0. And as I emphasised last time, I am not a size 0. In fact I should be at least 2, maybe 3, sizes bigger than that. I proved this with Charley earlier because she refused to believe it was that big and that it wouldn’t fit her. Well, it did. And there was plenty of room to spare too! So Charley and I are now size 0s, awesome! Kind of… Besides that, it’s a lovely skirt. It’s a nice length, not too short; it’s fairly smart, but not overly; and it’s nice and pleaty (yes, that’s a word..).
So anyway, I actually ended up in tights later on and finally a thick cardigan because we carried on into the late evening outside so it got a bit chilly! I was also chasing my 2 year old cousin around – she loves to run now – and holding my new 2 month old cousin. So it was much more practical to put tights on and take off the shoes – but at least the outfit started well!
Love,
I love this outfit! So pretty 🙂
I absolutely adore polka dots!
Love this look! It’s simple but chic and still feels summery…ahh, summer. I usually avoid buying bottoms at J. Crew because they fit me weird. They usually do the gaping thing in the back of the waist, but look dumpy in the legs and tushie. The skirt looks great on you, though, and I’d never know you weren’t a real size 0. 🙂
This is such a cute look! I LOVE that skirt.
This skirt was made for you!! Absolutely darling.
Thank you for linking up with Friday’s Fab Favorites!

Love this look it’s so simple but lovely! I know what you mean about your hair! I had hair as long as yours and I chopped it off to my shoulders a few months ago! I would never go back to the long length now I don’t think but I do miss having long fishtails plaits and big top knots!
