Last week I was invited to something pretty exciting – a blog event that wouldn’t take about a thousand years to travel to from my little world of the North. Morgan Clare, a designer boutique in Harrogate, invited me to come along for an evening of cupcakes, champagne and fashion. I asked if my friend Charley could come along too, maybe a little bit because I was terrified of driving there by myself (have you ever driven in Harrogate?! If not, I wouldn’t recommend it!), and of course they said yes. So we got dressed up in our finest gear and headed off. There will be another post with photos from the event etc., plus a video (eek!) of my getting ready, once I figure out where my movie making software has gone off my computer. But for now, here’s what we wore. I’m afraid I don’t have the details/can’t remember where Charley’s pieces are from, but she had the most amazing twirly dress – see below for proof. And she accessorised it with a little flower brooch at the neckline – and she kept worrying that she wasn’t ‘fashion blogger-y’ enough – nonsense!! Plus her coat was perfect for the little bit of rain, and the autumny weather, particularly in that colour. So please admire the pictures of my beautiful friend 🙂
And onto my outfit! I attempted to curl my now much shorter hair for the event, but it decided, as my hair likes to do, not to hold at all, so it just ended up being kind of wavy, but there you go. My ‘thing’ for AW13 (look at me being all fashiony…!) I have decided is going to be midi skirts. And here is my first attempt at that. I have worn midi skirts before on the blog, but never really got into it that much. So I’m going to make a bit more of an attempt at them this year. This is actually a vintage one – I was a bit worried as to how it was going to fit, because the site just had it listed as a size 8, and I wasn’t sure whether that was modern or vintage sizing. It hasn’t got a label (I think it might be homemade), so I still don’t know, but it fits, albeit a little on the tight side. I am contemplating taking it up an inch or two so it sits a little closer to the knee, but we’ll see. I feel like heels like this are perfect for midi skirts, but I’ve also been wearing heels a lot in general anyway recently. I wore these ones 3 times last week! I’m into boots at the moment for winter, but we’re off to Spain on Friday, so I’m a bit confused because it’s supposed to be 30C there at the moment, crazy!
Also, I just have to report this – I did some exercise last night – I know! Charley and I went off to a Pilates class in my town and it was a lot of fun. Next week we’re planning to go to Yoga on Wednesday. We did yoga at school for a couple of years, but I am a lot less fit and flexible than I was then, so we’ll see how it goes. But I think we’ll be keeping up with it, which is awesome 😀 I think I just need someone to come with me and force me into doing exercise. But I’m not going to get into anything more strenuous or hard working than pilates or yoga, don’t worry 🙂
