Does anyone remember the Awkward and Awesome Thursdays that Syndey at The Daybook used to do? I feel like I should definitely start doing those – although I highly doubt I will stick to Thursdays considering I only just manage to keep a monthly post on books going let alone a weekly one! Well the tartan and musard combination here seemed like an awkward/awesome combination so fits quite well, so I thought I would throw a few of my awkward and awesome moments from recently at you. Obviously I get way more awkward moments than awesome, because I am Sian, remember?! So here are a few of things from lately:
Awkward
- So you remember my imagined car hijacker the other week? Well, you never know, it might be true! Just listen to my further evidence. First thing: I was sat at my desk working away quite happily, when suddenly my number plate appeared at the window. Not by itself obviously – Rory was going out on his lunch and noticed it had fallen off. Anyway, another one of the guys at work managed to get it stuck back on for me, but I was a little confused. Then: that evening I headed to my car, only to find it completely steamed up, like as if a wet dog that was breathing way too much had sat in it all day. So obviously that meant there was a (wet?!) car hijacker hiding in the boot. I obviously couldn’t check because that would look weird. But I got home and no one attacked me, so all is good. But what is going on?! Car mystery indeed.
- I got some new underwear sent the other day – a bra and some matching high waisted knickers. And the first thing you do when you get new things? Wear them the next day. So I’d tried on the bra the night before – because that kind of does need to fit, you know. But the knickers I knew would fit and didn’t bother. It wasn’t until half way through the day of wearing them that I discovered they still had the tag attached. A 6 inch big tag. That was attached with very thick thread that I couldn’t break. So I continued my day at work with said tag attached, hoping that no one would notice (and they didn’t! But if they read my blog they will now know :/).
- I am clumsy. Everyone knows this. So far this week I have obliterated, yes obliterated, a jar of pickled onions. They were teeny ones too, I’d only eaten like 5, and were in white balsamic, so were a fancy kind (at least to me!). Smash. The glass jar shattered, onions and vinegar went everywhere. I have also spilled a full glass of cider onto our carpet. Then in the process of going to get a cloth, managed to smash a jug. Well, I haven’t fallen over this week…yet.
- It started to rain as I took these photos, resulting in half being inside, half outside. And I only used one inside picture in the end too!
- Final, kind of major awkward – I no longer own these trousers. They had an accident. As in, they split. Right down the crotch. Now that was definitely awkward! And it was the first time I’d worn them too, so Zara very kindly refunded me for them since they were only worn once.

Awesome (or some?!)
- Following on from one of the awkwards – the underwear was sent as part of a new project which I will now reveal because it is awesome. Charley and I are setting up a new lingerie blog – I won’t reveal the name yet because that is the most awesome part of it! – but it will hopefully launch at the beginning of November. We already have a number of reviews planned along with some potential sponsors.
- I won two competitions this week! One was a giveaway on a blog for a dress from Sugarhill Boutique, and the other was a Facebook competition for a new lingerie set release from Tutti Rouge. Both are very exciting!!
- I’ve been getting to do exciting things that I love doing at work – including working with a fashion client, meaning I get to look at fashion blogs, write fashion content and work on fashion social media as a job. Sometimes I can’t believe I was so lucky to get a job doing something I love so much. Before, when I used to teach, I didn’t realise that there were jobs out there like this that I could do. I’m also blogging for the bakery in my free time too, and hopefully will be doing a bit more freelance writing and social media stuff soon too.
- I have awesome friends who do things like book clubs, lunches and Pilates with me. We’re all getting older now (aah!!), so we’re doing more ‘grown up’ things and I’m loving it. It’s so nice to be back in the area where I’m so close to my friends again, for example, I popped over to see Charley tonight. She’s just had her tonsils out (boo!). But we also do Pilates once a week, and I see my other friends every week or two 🙂
What do you think of this awkward/awesome post? Let me know if you liked it!

I love the idea of the awesome and awkward post -hope to see more of them.
I always forget to take the tags off things. Definitely awkward!
And I love the trousers; what a shame about them splitting, but that does mean you have a space for something tartan in your wardrobe – ASOS shoes?!!
I love this outfit and the idea of this post x
you pull this look off really well!
