I am back with an outfit post, and hopefully a few more that I’ve got saved up at the moment! I’m off work for a few days at the moment as I was in hospital for a minor procedure on my bladder (which will hopefully cure my UTIs/cystitis!) yesterday. I had to have a general anaesthetic, but was only out for about 15 minutes I think, which means that I don’t feel too awful today and I’m not in a lot of pain which is good 🙂 But I’m sure I’ll update you frequently on it on Twitter etc.!
I mentioned in my last post the outfit that I haven’t been able to stop wearing over the festive period, and this is it! I did swap the shoes for my normal ASOS heels for Christmas Eve and New Year, but this was for my work Christmas Party. I’d originally planned on wearing either this dress from ASOS or this dress from Wish Want Wear – both were gorgeous, but this dress and petticoat arrived from Tiger Milly the very day of the Christmas Party, so the first thing I did when I arrived home was try them on and fall in love. I’ve marked them with an asterix because I was provided with a £30 voucher for the site and these were quite a bit more than that £30, so I just used it towards them. I just fell in love with the picture of the dress on the site, and decided it couldn’t be without a petticoat. Now I’m pretty certain that none of you will remember this, but nearly 4 years, my first post on my blog mentioned that I wanted a petticoat. Well, it’s taken a long time, but I finally have it! And now I’m desperate for more skirts and dresses I can wear it with – it’s so swooshy and gorgeous!

So the Christmas Party was held at the Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate. It’s a gorgeous old fashioned hotel, kind of art deco style, and we were lucky enough to stay overnight too. Unfortunately, as always with me, there was a minor (or major) disaster…as in, we were in quite a rush to get there – Ben wasn’t home from work till just after 5, and the party started around 7 at the hotel. Harrogate isn’t too far from Ripon where I work, but obviously I had to go home first to get Ben and our stuff, which is the same distance from Ripon as Harrogate is, but in the other direction, meaning around 45 minutes to an hour’s drive. This left us around an hour to get ready once we arrived, which seemed just about alright. Unfortunately, that was not to be, since, arriving at 6pm, we opened the boot of the car to find that neither of us had put the bag in. My dress and petticoat were laid out in the back of the car with Ben’s suit, but my make up, shoes and overnight stuff was all in the bag, back at our house. So Ben had to make the trip allll the way home to get it and back again. Luckily, one of the girls at work, Hannah, saw my plea for help on Twitter and rushed to the rescue with hair straighteners and make up, so I could at least get partially ready! I had planned to curl my hair, but that was out the window! (As was my head, which I, of course, managed to shut in the window, obviously, while trying to get phone signal and see how long Ben was going to be!). Anyway, Ben managed to get back in time for us to throw on our finishing touches and rush down to dinner, making it just in time for the starter!

I had a lovely evening – we didn’t stay up too late as Ben had work in the morning and I was rushing off on a train to the Christmas markets in Manchester with half of the female side of my mum’s family. The evening itself was casino themed, so the red dress probably would have been the best bet, but I couldn’t help wearing this one!
I ended up spending a large part of the evening with one of the guy’s wives, Chew, taking photos. I’d spoken to Chew several times before as she runs a fashion blog too at My Style Stories. We’d been planning to meet up for a long time to take pictures together and whatnot, but never managed to arrange anything, so it was really lovely to finally meet her! The lighting in the hotel was a bit strange, so it took a little while to find somewhere good to get pictures, so there are a few in different places here, but Chew got some really lovely pictures of my dress (thanks!). And how gorgeous does she look in red? And her hair?! I wish I was as creative as that!
And on a final note, hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year too! I have photos from Christmas day and a few other occasions to show you so I’ll get those up at some point, as well as my 12th month in books post – a whole year! I just have to share one final thing with you, my main Christmas present from the parents: a trip to Disneyland Paris with my sister!! As you may remember, I went last year with my friends, but my sister has never been. We’ve been to Disneyworld in Florida too many times to count (and we’re going again in April/May), but they’ve booked our flights and accommodation for a weekend trip in March!! I’m super excited – I’ve already planned the first ride we’re going to do (Crush’s Coaster) and where we’re going to eat (Rainforest Cafe, Walt’s and possibly the restaurant inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, the Blue Lagoon).

Beautiful dress, it looks great on you. I would have had a total freakout if I’d left my bag behind!
