Outfit post and a review of the Harrogate Turkish Baths in one post today, must be something special…
Today is my blogaversy! 4 whole years of blogging here at Rebel Angel – pretty amazing considering it’s just something I started up on a whim one day with no intentions of continuing it or trying to make anything of it. I didn’t even know where I was going, just that I wanted to talk about things I was doing and occasionally wearing. Well, now it’s become a personal style blog where I post outfits as well as a little bit of lifestyle and just general ramblings! Not so much as fashion blog as some people might call it, simply because I don’t know a lot about fashion – all I do is put together outfits with clothes that I personally like to wear. Sometimes it coincides with trends, sometimes it doesn’t!
Anyway, onto today’s outfit! I received this gorgeous dress from Voodoo Vixen about a month ago. It’s so summery that I tried to put off wearing it until better weather – that lasted for a total of, um, one day. I wore it the very next day to work, woops! I’m pretty sure this is how I wore it, although this is actually the outfit I wore at last night for a meal for Ben’s sister’s birthday. It could have done with a bit more accessorizing with something like a pearl necklace or hair bow, but always forget! I tried to winterize it a bit with a darker coloured cardigan and shoes, but it’s still not exactly appropriate for the chilly (and windy!) weather! Not that we’ve had much of a winter here anyway – we had literally 3cm of snow the other day, and that’s been it – weird considering last year we seemed to have snow for about 3 months solidly (awesome snow day post here!). Bear in mind that we did live basically in the Yorkshire Dales then though! So I haven’t really needed to wear full on winter clothes this year, just a normal weight coat and boots when it’s been particularly rainy. But I’ve managed to keep going in heels and flats on several days too – weird!
Right, I somehow managed to get onto talking about the weather again then – sorry! I’ve been kind of busy again recently. It doesn’t seem to be a lot in particular, but enough that I haven’t really sat down and blogged properly. Last weekend was amazing in particular though – I spent Saturday having probably one of the best days ever.
I received some vouchers for the Harrogate Turkish Baths so decided to treat Charley to a morning there following her operation. So we managed to make our way down there and get completely lost in Harrogate (most awful place to drive – we’ve got lost there 3 times now, and it’s a pretty local town!). We spent about an hour and a half in the baths which include a lounging room, a plunge pool, a steam room and 3 hot rooms which get progressively hotter. There was a system of showering, lounging in the heat and plunging to stick to, so we followed that dutifully, and I nearly died in the freezing waters of the plunge. We had a Turkish massage booked about an hour after the session finished, so we were taken to the jacuzzi to spend the time there while we waited, then split into separate rooms for massages. As we’d chosen the Turkish Aromatic Massage, we got to choose the blend of aromatherapy oils we wanted. I went for the Relax blend which included lavender, sandalwood, patchouli, violet and ylang ylang, while Charley went for Active with spearmint, clary sage and cinnamon leaf – we both could smell the oils all day! We then managed to lose each other for a good half an hour – I was taken back to the jacuzzi (with the key for the lockers attached to my bikini) while Charley was taken to the changing room where she waited in her gown for me and was forced to straighten her hair to give her something to do!
We had a quick lunch in a deli and I bought a couple of hair chalks in the Body Shop (review to come soon) and a dress and a top in Primark, then we headed for our next appointment – a styling appointment at Rigby & Peller as a review for Big Cup Little Cup (you can read all about it here). That was amazing, but it’s all over at the other blog 🙂 And finally, we headed back to Charley’s house to meet Rosie and Fran for a Book Club sleepover (best kind of Book Club!). Only Rosie had finished the book this time (I need to do a book post soon!), woops! But we had a lovely meal of ‘tapas’ and cocktails, watched Bring It On, filmed a measuring video for Big Cup Little Cup, and finally had pancakes in the morning for breakfast.
And onto this weekend just briefly – I bought a sewing machine (my old one was tiny and possibly broken!), some fabric and a pattern for a dress, so I’m starting on that soon! I hemmed a skirt on my new machine today and that went successfully (after taking about 20 minutes to thread it – I have no mind for instructions with diagrams!), so I’m excited to get started on the dress 🙂
Beautiful! I love the dress, and I like that you pulled off the green and red combo without being Christmassy!
