Red Striped Breton Top: Style Challenge Day 11

Red Striped Top Collectif outfit

I am slowly becoming aware that I have a new “standard” pose of hand(s) on hip(s), looking down to my right and hair covering face – it’s become more apparent as I’ve taken photos every single day for my Style Challenge, but I promise I will try to vary my poses! It can’t be helped when I’m taking photos at 7.45am though! And speaking of which, I’m noticing that it’s very very slowly getting lighter in my morning photos, eek! That means that summer is on the way! #EverTheOptimist 😀 Also speaking of which, you might have notice by now that the clock behind me in these photos has stopped…I thought for a good few days (okay, I only noticed like 2 days ago) that I was taking my photos at EXACTLY the same time every time and was priding myself on having my morning routine down to the minute. Then I realised that if that were the case, I’d be an hour late for work too – awkward.

Anywho, this is the third outfit in a row that I’m wearing Collectif – at least it’s not a full Collectif outfit this time like yesterday’s! This time I’m mixing retro style with modern – wearing a classic Breton style top with skinny jeans and trainers. The trainers are totally not my usual style – as I don’t really do sports (or at least traditional ones), I don’t often wear trainers, plus I just haven’t ever got into the sportswear-inspired trend ever – but I bought them last year as they were super cheap on ASOS and I wanted to look cool, and actually, they’ve had quite a lot of wear since then.

The Breton top was another of my 50% off sale purchases from Collectif. It’s the red sister of the blue striped top I wore here – at times I wear that top almost weekly as it’s a great basic, so I knew that the red version would be a useful addition to my wardrobe. I went a bit over the top with the red cardigan as well, but it’s nice to get a bit of colour in winter! Paired with the jeans and trainers, this made a good basic outfit for a day at work then over to Brownies in the evening, although I did need to swap into my Brownie uniform top before heading there. I often try to wear jeans on a Wednesday just to make it easier for Brownies so that I can wear my polo top uniform easily with them and because we do lots of sitting on the floor and running around playing games, so the easier it is for me to move, the better!

(Oh and excuse the top of my head being cut off in these pictures – like I said before, self-timer at 7.45am!)

I’m a big stripes fan so loving the top, I think the red cardi looks fab. I own one pair of daps/trainers, they’re not even proper trainers and don’t wear them often. My kitchen clock stopped ages ago and has given up the will to live, I can’t find a suitable replacement though (as its huge) so it’s still there annoying me, after at least a month I still look at it for the time!

Thank you! I only have these trainers as “fashion” ones – my others are workout only, so don’t get that much use either to be honest 😀
