Last year I wrote a post with 25 facts I thought that you might not know about me, and it was lots of fun! I love the idea of sharing more about my life with my readers as I like my blog to be quite personal, and it’s also really fun to look back on years later. I’ve taken a few days off blogging as I had a really busy weekend (wedding venue viewing and dress trying – SO exciting!!) then I got ill, like really ill. I actually mentioned in my last facts post how I have a fear of feeling and being sick, and I have a whole post written about it in fact that I will one day share, when I’m ready, but for now, just know that it is my worst nightmare. I saw the headlines about the bug going round and have spent the last week panicking about getting it – my hands may be scrubbed half to death trying to keep the bacteria away. But, of course, I still managed to catch it and have had the worst-feeling few days of my life – basically passed out on the sofa for 2 days solid and only just feeling human enough to get back to work again now, although still working at home.
Anyway, enough about that! I guess that was a fact in itself?! Nevertheless, on with the facts!
1. I am clumsy
Like really clumsy – I managed to sprain both my ankles at the same time while running a couple of years ago; I fell out of a (stationary!) car, walked into a lamp post, smashed a car seat into my face and fell over in a restaurant (skirt over head and all!) in the space of a week on one holiday; at uni, a bus drove through a puddle and created a tidal wave so big it not only soaked me, but knocked me off my feet; at school, I got my foot stuck in a grate, fell in a hole and had a cup of coffee (accidentally!) thrown over me by a teacher. And that’s just a few of the best and funniest stories!
I’m now known as the office klutz, which is difficult considering that there are actually 3 of us in the office of 16 people that are considered as clumsy ones and I’m the worst! I actually came in the other morning to a wet floor as the cleaner was just leaving, had 3 people warn me to BE CAREFUL, and still managed to slip on it – no harm done that time though, don’t worry! This course by Sheilds.org is great for more information on this, as is their campaign #staysafeatwork – fortunately, my workplace are very clued up about it all, as they have to be with me around, so fingers crossed I’m safe there – you’d think I couldn’t do that much harm in an office, right?!
2. I like unsolved mysteries
I’ve always been a little bit obsessed with those TV programmes like Unsolved Mysteries and Most Haunted, then I discovered sites like Listverse and their mysteries section, and finally, I’ve recently got addicted to podcasts that cover every and all mysterious topics. I’ve got a whole post coming up on my current favourites, so I’ll save that for then, but they include things from true stories of murders and disappearances to urban legends. I think the appeal is the fact that they are, obviously, unsolved – doesn’t everyone want to be the person who solves it?! It definitely appeals to the Classics graduate in me – that was all about unravelling ancient mysteries, even my dissertation was on the celebrations of an ancient cult about which very little is known, so you can understand why I like these!
3. I’m really not skilled at hair & make up
Despite my claims to be being a “fashion blogger” (although as I’ve said many times, I actually don’t know all that much – I just like clothes!), I’m not great at make up and I never do anything to my hair except for brush it in the morning! I occasionally make more of an effort with my make up when I have something special, but most of the time it’s a simple foundation-concealer-blusher-lipstick job, and I’m out of the house in 5 minutes – simples.
4. I am very indecisive
(This is starting to sound like a list of my shortcomings here!) Never ask me to make up my mind about something, because I can’t do it. I blame it on being a Libra! From choosing a film to watch on my first date with Ben (or I guess the second date – our first was a blind date!) to where to go on holiday, nope – can’t do it. Then again, Ben is a Libra too and makes plenty of decisions. I have been making a conscious effort recently to be more decisive and not go along with things just because I panic or it’s easier, so we’ll see how that goes!
5. I don’t swear
I’m not sure whether this surprises people or not, but I don’t swear – ever. When I was younger, I was taught not to, so I grew up just not doing so. It’s now become such a thing that when I was a teenager, my friends used to try to trick me into it. They’re over that now, but it would be such a big deal if I suddenly started doing so that I won’t. I’m not actually sure how many people realise this fact either! I think it just makes people perceive me as quite mild-mannered (which I am most of the time, promise!), which is fine with me!
Sorry to hear you’ve been so ill, Sian! I hope you’re feeling much better now!
It’s always fun to learn more about fellow bloggers!

Thanks Suzy! I love reading things like this too – maybe I’m just nosy 😀
Poor you, bugs are nasty and horrible!! I have 3 teenagers and we’ve had so many over the years that hit all of us, one gets it then the other four a day later. Very interesting facts, I swear occasionally but never drop the biggies, I think the unsolved mysteries shows your clever mind (which utterly makes up for being clumsy 🙂 I wish I spent more time on hair and make up but I just don’t, I would rather stay in bed an extra five mins or sit drinking my morning cuppa. Hope you are recovering and perking up x
