Yesterday I published a video featuring my Primark haul from the weekend and in it I mentioned that I might make an outfit that day out of the oversized check dress I’d bought as well as the jewellery – and I did! If you want to take a look at the video including the other things I bought (my first ever haul!), here it is:
The outfit is a pretty standard spring “monochrome” for me to be honest – give me a black and white outfit and I’ll throw in something yellow or mustard coloured, obviously! Let me prove it to you with all the outfits wearing this cardigan, including a polka dot midi skirt, a Collectif dress and daffodils and a pretty old one with a polka dot shift dress. I really need to figure out a new way to wear this cardigan that isn’t with just black and white!
I wore this outfit for a trip into Leeds with my sister to see Disney on Ice, which was pretty awesome! I really regretted not dressing Disney themed for it though after seeing all the other people there (okay, all the other kids…) wearing Princess dresses. I was never allowed a “real” Disney princess dress when I was younger because they were expensive and my parents said they weren’t worth it. I can totally understand that now I’m grown up and see the prices of them, but I still begrudge them for it!
Nevertheless, I wished I’d gone for a more Disney inspired outfit this day. I’d considered trying to Disneybound a Snow White outfit or even something more obscure, but I’d been ill in the days before (food poisoning, bleh) and hadn’t had the energy.
I wasn’t sure how much of a fan of the dress I would be – it’s got a really cute check design which I always love, but it’s oversized at the waist and has flouncy sleeves. I was worried it would drown me a bit, but actually I really liked wearing it – nice and breezy for a warm spring day, and this spring day turned out to be way warmer than we expected! I actually took off my cardigan for most of the afternoon! I’m now exploring more spring dress options since I’ve got into a jeans and tee habit at the moment so want to make sure I make the most of the warmer weather – I’m really liking the airy and floral dresses at Bonmarche, but also the floaty tops at Oasis – anyone have any other suggestions?

PS: Sorry for being so squinty – was stood in full sun because I wanted to take advantage of it being out! Forgetting in the process that pics of me in the sun come out shadowy and squinty #noregrets
I love the dress it’s absolutely gorgeous and the yellow works really well with it! Fab outfit xx

Thanks, Holly! This time of year is the best to wear that yellow so I match the daffodils 😀
