I’ve seen all kinds of arguments for when autumn starts over the last couple of weeks, with some people saying it’s already started and others saying mid-September, the autumn equinox, is when it really begins. To be honest, the weather is already starting to feel a little autumnal, and despite the fact that I’ve always loved summer wear, I’m already gathering autumn-inspired pins and watching my inbox for AW17 releases.
So here’s my pick of autumn inspired goodies as the leaves start to turn for 2017:
Autumn Fragrance
First up, the Turkish Apple Tea from Whittards – I’m obsessed with this over autumn and winter. Chuck in a cinnamon stick and the scent will feel so warm and nostalgic. I try not to drink it too often because it’s basically apple flavoured sugar, but it’s lovely! And to serve it in, this Adventure is Out There mug from Enammo on Etsy is very much my style – imagine that on a chilly, blue skied day with a checkered picnic rug backdrop.
Autumnal Colour Knits
Then we’ve got the burgundy knitted top from Collectif. This is my favourite colour to wear during autumn and winter because it’s warm and seems to suit almost everything. I love the off shoulder shape and that it has three quarter length sleeves.
The knitted pleated camel coloured skirt from Chicwish is beautiful and is another typical autumn colour for me. I can imagine it working with a plain tee earlier in the season then with chunky knits, tights and boots as it gets chillier.
The Staple Piece
I’m on the look out for the perfect white shirt at the moment and this shirt from GANT seems like a good option. I want one that’s not that stiff cotton like school shirts but fits well – a difficult thing for me! I feel like it would be the perfect layering piece in autumn as well as looking smart with dark skinny jeans.
Chunky Knits
I loved wearing my pink one from ASOS last year, so this yellow roll neck one from Boohoo would be ideal – a bit more colour with the mustard yellow and super thick and cosy. Jumping over to the SUPER chunky knit blanket in yellow too from LaurenAstonDesigns on Etsy – I want one of these so bad. Perfect home decor for the season, and can you tell I’m obsessed with this yellow shade?
Embellishments
The embellished top from GatsbyLady is a little bit more festive, but I can see this being the perfect slightly dressed up piece for autumn with a pair of burgundy skinny jeans. Or even layered over a basic dress. The possibilities are endless.
Forest Green
And finally, another Collectif piece – the Nicky Doll dress seems to be the longer sleeved, forest green version of my black Trixie Doll dress worn here. I’m in love with the shape of that one, so having another colour with long sleeves (I’m obsessed with long sleeves on dresses!) would be amazing. Forest green is yet another autumn favourite colour of mine!
