It doesn’t really feel like we ever had any real summer thanks to these past few weeks – it’s been jeans everyday, and even jumpers some days. I’ve heard people complaining that we haven’t had nice weather at all this year, but I remember saying how lucky we were earlier in summer to have some heat and sunshine. People often tend to forget the good things that have happened when not so good things come along.
Fortunately, I’m looking forward to the autumn. I don’t want to wish time away, but we have exciting plans for that time and ahead, so while I’m enjoying what we have now, I’m also looking forward.
I’ve always loved summer fashion, but as I’ve got older and find less time to enjoy summer wear because I’m working indoors, I’ve started to find autumn clothing a lot more fun. It helps that I’ve always been a fan of autumnal colours – burnt oranges, warm burgundies, deep greens – and that autumn has that nostalgic kind of feel about it. I could list the crunchiness of leaves, the damp smell of the earth after rain when the sun is shining again, bundling up in warm and cosy scarves.
But for the time being, it’s still summer – just about.
I bought this flamingo hat in an ASOS sale earlier in the year and wished I’d had it in time for Florida. Ah well, the flamingos will just have to make an appearance on another sunny summer holiday instead. For now though, it makes an excellent photo prop and looks lovely on Maeve.
And to match the end of summer holiday flamingo vibe, I received this beautiful tropical palm print bodysuit from Tobi. I think it would also make a lovely swimsuit around the pool too. I did have the issue that it’s low cut at the front and back with no support whatsoever, but I stuck my strapless Wonderbra underneath (and I’m aware you can see it peeking through in some shots!) and it was perfect. Worn with jeans, it pulls together that kind of up and down and all over the place feeling weather we’ve had recently.
We managed to catch some lovely end of summer evening light for these photos too. I’ve been a bit lackadaisical (isn’t that the best word?!) with outfit photos recently, but I’m hoping to change that and get back into taking them properly again. Ben recently bought us a bit more photographic equipment so I’m trying to play off him getting into photography a bit more by getting him to take photos for me ;D We’ll see how it goes!
