Prize for the most uninspired title for a blog post ever? Yep, I’ll take that. Titles are hard work, people! But at least it explains what’s going on here: I’m wearing an embroidered leather jacket and a grey jersey dress. And ankle boots with a sparkly, shiny gold heel, but that title would have been a little too long.
This feels like a very “not me” outfit – I’d describe it as urban, on trend and cool, whereas I’m more retro, classic and cute normally. In fact though, I kind of like this. I like the effortless feel of a T shirt dress with tights and heels, and the on trend aspect of the leather jacket. The fact that it’s not something that’s easy to pair with everything, so it can’t be worn with every outfit under the sun like most of my coats and jackets, and that it probably won’t last me more than a few seasons, but IT HAS EMBROIDERY.
My outfits right now mostly consist of jeans and a knitted jumper with ankle boots – casual but warm; sensibly keeping me covered from the drizzle but are still slightly trendy. At least, I think jeans and jumpers are trendy – I never claimed to be a fashion expert! But some days I’m still trying to make the effort to put together an outfit that requires some more thought, and this was one of those.
This T shirt dress from PrettyLittleThing is SO comfortable. It is literally like wearing pyjamas – I would wear this as loungewear. You can tie the straps at the front as I’ve done, wrapped around your body and tied at the front, or wrapped around and tied at the back. To me, that’s a multiway dress! I like the relaxed fit of it but the fact that it’s still somewhat flattering with the nipped waist when it’s tied.
The embroidered jacket is one I talked about here (and hinted I might already own!). This is from LOTD who are killing it with their coats and jackets right now, take a look. I just want ALL the embroidered things because they’re so pretty. I love the contrast between the tough “biker” image of wearing a leather jacket and the pretty nature of the embroidered flowers, butterflies and botanicals. And apparently this jacket is one that works across the generations – check out my grandma rocking it here:
The ankle boots are that perfect compromise between glam and sensible. I only like to wear boots with thick heels so as to better keep my balance, but the fact that the heels are sparkly and gold makes them all the more fun. I’ve worn them out a few times now and they’re surprising comfortable for a high heel – I think the fact that your foot is entirely enclosed by boot really helps in terms of comfort as the pressure is spread across your whole foot.
So even though this outfit is different from my usual, I’ve already worn the whole thing twice (once to work, once to my grandparents’) and various components of it several times too – that means it’s got to be a winner, despite it being a “trendy” outfit!
