Strawberry Patches
I think I mentioned that a couple of weeks ago I went to a vintage fair at York with a few of my oldest friends from home – well, this is the dress I bought there 😀 First though I’ll tell you a bit about the day 🙂 I met Rosie and Katy first at my house to give them a quick tour of the new home, then we headed down to York to meet Helen. We went out for lunch at a little place called Lucia’s down a little street in the centre. It was a lovely little place – we sat outside under patio heaters (even though it was fairly warm anyway), and the seats have woolly blankets draped over them printed with things like sheep in case you get cold! The food was lovely, as was the strawberry and cream mocktail I had 😀 We then headed over to the vintage fair, York Does Vintage located in the amazing Merchant Adventurer’s Hall grabbing some fudge at the Fudge Kitchen. I wish I’d had my camera to show you some of these places I’m linking to; I completely forgot to grab it as I went out the door! I met my friend Becca-Jane from Greece, who I hadn’t seen since we’d left the country, in the vintage fair briefly too, and we plan to meet up again soon 🙂 The hall was filled with amazing vintage finds and I wished I could have bought more! Katy and I are planning to go to another vintage fair, a bigger one, with my family in a couple of week’s time though, so I’m saving my money for that one now! There was a photobooth in the hall too complete with props, so we just had to get some pictures 😀 We then finished off the day at a Chinese supermarket…of course!

So on to the dress itself! There were a lot of things that I loved at the vintage fair, but I find it difficult to choose true vintage pieces because I find them difficult to wear. I will definitely be trying some more in future though I think. But anyway, this dress was on a stall called From Vintage To Vogue, which had dresses in all different, very cute prints made to vintage patterns. The print of this one was just perfect for me, and it’s a shape I just love in dresses. I’d love to wear it with heels sometime, but I wore this to work, so went for lower shoes. Yep, I wore this get up to work…I’m lucky I work somewhere where I can get away with things like this!! The dress was £28 which wasn’t too bad for a handmade dress of this quality – all the dresses appear to be handmade, and the lovely lady running the stall took down my name and gave me a card, explaining that now I know my size in her dresses, she could make me more in other prints in future 🙂 The sizing does run a little small as this is a size 10, but the handwritten label said it had a 26in (I think!) waist, which is what I would normally wear in a size 6/8 dress – much more sensible sizing really, I think!

Great find! Its a really unique idea using a combination of vintage patterns and modern fabrics.
