Getting my Christmas Party on!

George at Asda Jumpsuit Christmas Party outfit

When someone asks me if I would like to pick out a Christmas party outfit, whether it’s December or June, I’m not going to say no! So when George at Asda gave me free rein in their sparkly dresses perfect for Christmas parties, I was more than happy. I scrolled and scrolled back and forth through the sequins, sparkles and LBDs, in love with many of them, but the thing that kept catching my eye was, strangely enough for me, a jumpsuit. This jumpsuit to be precise. The one with pretty lace and flattering wide legs. Sadly, it wasn’t available in my usual size 8 or 10. But at this point I was already pretty smitten with it so decided I would give it a go in a 12 since the fabric is stretchy and looks best when it’s skimming over curves rather than clinging. Plus it has a waist tie which can pull it in. And fortunately, it worked!
I was a little nervous when I ordered it as I’ve only ever tried on a jumpsuit once before and never owned one. I’ve always thought they were a little strange – I think I was thinking Cat Woman and bodysuits, whereas this one is cut in a flattering shape, with ruching and gathers on the bodice, lace on the sleeves, a big keyhole back opening and wide leg trousers. To be fair, it is slightly big, but only so much so that’s it’s SO comfortable and I would be more than happy to wear this to my Christmas party (plenty of room for food!). That’s got to be my number one Christmas party tip though: leave plenty of room for food…which I don’t think I will be sticking to in the dress I have planned for my work party, more on that soon though…

I chose a couple of sparkly accessories to go with it to really bring up into the festive spirit – a glittery pair of low heels (more comfortable for dancing, and less likely to trip my clumsy self up!) plus an embellished clutch bag which I want to use every.single.day now.
So I have to tell the truth – I wasn’t on the way to a Christmas party when I wore this, in fact, I haven’t even had my Christmas party yet, it’s a couple of weeks away! Yes, I did do the “blogger thing” of dressing up in an outfit just to show it off BUT I have worn it, or at least the jumpsuit anyway, last night to my choir’s Carol Concert. We have to wear black and white for concerts and my old black dress has now been worn a few too many times for choir occasions, so I decided to go for something different: the jumpsuit. And you know what? It was pretty much ideal! I felt smart enough without being over the top, plus it was a little bit different to a plain black dress or black skirt and white shirt (which sadly I can’t even wear anyway as it’s SO difficult to find a nicely fitting white shirt!). Let’s not talk about the polyester red and blue scarves we have to wear with our outfits though…

  1. I’m so digging this on you! It’s like a LBD but upgraded. Why NOT a jumpsuit/pants? You’re rocking it. If you wanted to get uber festive, you could just add Christmas-y accessories! =D
