A week late with this outfit, not too bad?! I haven’t really had a moment to blog recently – I’ve been fairly busy as well as being ill, yep again. If anyone’s interested, it’s the dreaded cystitis again. I’ve spoken before about how much I’ve suffered with it, but I hadn’t had it for nearly a year, so thought my body had finally got over it. Apparently not. Unfortunately it’s so bad that I was off work yesterday and am now off today too. I was up today before 5.30am because I was in too much pain to lay in bed, so when that happens, you know something is definitely wrong with me. And I had it all Bank Holiday weekend too, boo!

Aside from that, I had a very interesting day on Saturday…I went to Leeds Festival with my sister!! Yep, that’s me, Sian, at Leeds Fest. Want proof? Here you go! Leeds Fest, for those of you that don’t know, runs from Friday to Sunday, although those camping usually arrive on the Thursday and stay till the Monday. Unfortunately there was a huge downpour on Thursday night, turning the fields to mud. We only went for the Saturday (you won’t catch me camping like that!). The morning was pretty sunny, and when we arrived we were really hot in the sun, plus the fact that we ended up practically running back across the fields when I realised that I’d left my keys in the ignition of my car, oops!! Unfortunately I developed the cystitis on this day, but it wasn’t at its full extent, so apart from a little bit of sitting and crying, it was bearable. But the main problem was the rain that arrived about 2pm. Oh, the rain; oh, the mud!! As we were walking in, I got a tiny splash of mud on my leg which I made a bit of a fuss over. By the end of the day our legs barely had an inch of skin that wasn’t covered in mud! I started the day in crop top, shorts and (cowboy boot!) wellies and was too hot, and ended it in a vest top, top, cardigan, rain mac and poncho! Beth is obsessed with Green Day, so that’s why we went, and they were really good (I have to admit!), but we also saw System of a Down, a bit of Frank Turner and New Found Glory, as well as a couple of others on the Festival Republic Stage (who unfortunately we didn’t know or hear their name!). When the rain settled for a while we danced outside in the mud at the Dance Stage (again, didn’t know who it was!) and we went on the Ferris Wheel. So it was a fun day in all! 

We almost got stuck in the car park/field trying to get out though – it was a terrifying moment. The car in front was a 4 wheel drive and was revving its engine like crazy, kicking up a load of mud and not moving anywhere. It took 4 people to push it out. And there I was in my little Nissan Micra. I was so so scared we would be stuck, especially because both our phones had gone flat. But luckily, I had a spark of ingenuity (weird for me!) and realised I needed to treat the mud like ice and keep the revs really low. That combined with the fact that I have winter tyres on my car that I keep forgetting to take off meant that we very slowly crept our way out of the field. Very impressed with my driving skillz there!!

So, this outfit! As I said, it’s a week old now, from the weekend before this one. I got the cat face dress just before I went on holiday. I’d seen bloggers wearing other versions of it before and kind of liked it. I’ve never really gone for the crazy cat lady trend, but for some reason, I thought I would try this dress. And I really like it! I’ve worn it twice before this, both with the dress just by itself, but decided to layer it up with a blouse for this outfit.

This weekend was a lot of fun too! As a gift for my dad’s birthday, we’d bought tickets to a Picnic Cinema in a local forest. It was definitely something different! Basically, we watched Bram Stoker’s Dracula in the middle of the forest at night, in the kind-of-rain, on picnic chairs! We arrived early and got welcomed with a goodie bag of sweets in a retro striped paper bag to eat during the film and a platter of bugs to taste!! No one else in my family would try one, but Ben had a silk worm and I ate a grasshopper, yep! It wasn’t too bad, promise! We then wandered down to the screen, set up our chairs and had our picnic while waiting for the film to start. There was also a quiz, the first letters of the answers to which spelled out ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’, then we watched the film, which I hadn’t seen before in the dark. It was definitely a lot of fun! Dracula is one of my favourite books, although I only read it in its entirety less than a year ago. The film was definitely an interesting reconstruction of the book! Not sure if I liked it, but it was fun to sit in the dark in the middle of an empty forest and be a little bit scared!
