A few weeks ago, the lovely people over at Nomads introduced me to their brand and asked me to try out a few of their pieces – they picked out a few that they thought would suit me, and I picked a couple too, and this is the first of the ones I picked. As soon as I saw it on the site, I knew it would be perfect for me. I’ve never owned a nice shirt dress before – I had one that was pretty much straight up and down with a tie waist once, but it wasn’t what I was really looking for. But this one is described as 50s style and has a lovely full skirt. The sizes start at a 10, whereas I’m usually an 8. Fortunately this meant there was plenty of room to fit my bust which usually causes shirts and blouses to pull and gape! Cinched in with my favourite belt, it was perfect for a warm summer’s day at work. It’s light and breezy, made of cotton, full skirted and the perfect length, sigh! I’m going to be taking it with me to New England (we go on Friday!). Every piece on their website is so beautiful and really well thought out. They pride themselves on creating clothes with their customers in mind, and describe their collection as bohemian with an ethnic feel, inspired by India. They have an amazing Fairtrade policy and want their clothes to be produced using traditional methods and crafts with very little impact on the environment.

Belt: Matalan
Wedges: New Look (exact ones)
Yet again, wearing the same wedges – sorry, they’re just too comfortable! I finally got round to painting my nails – both hands and feet – before these pictures too. My fingernails are Essie’s Penny Talk and my toes are Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Satsuma. I usually wear a pink or red on my toes during the summer, but I picked up three different shades of the Gelly Hi Shine polishes, one of which was this orange, so decided to try it out on my toes. I really like the colour, and it seems to work well with the very slight tan I’ve managed to pick up (hoping for more of that soon!).
In real life news, the weather has taken a slight dip again in the north of England. While it’s not chilly, it’s not hot anymore. I managed to go without tights today but needed a cardigan, although it had started to warm up a little by the afternoon. And we have big news over here tonight – the royal birth! We found out about an hour ago that the royal baby is a boy, so that’s very exciting. I was convinced it was going to be a girl!
And back to my life again, we had a nice weekend (although it was cloudy!) – on Sunday we had Ben’s family (grandparents, great aunt, his mum, aunt, uncle and little cousin) round after we’d been out for a meal. It was a lot of fun playing with William who’s now 2 and a quarter. He ran around shouting at spiders, hugged my car and played in the sprinkler (until he got wet and cried!). Tomorrow night I’m going round to my friend Charley’s again (we were there last weekend for a BBQ) for another BBQ with a few other friends. It sounds like we’ll be having a veritable feast with all the foods we’re planning to cook and bring! So I’m very much looking forward to that. And apart from that, lots of packing to do still, eeps!

I think I would normally feel pretty self-conscious posting pictures in a bikini, however I think this is a different matter. This is an awesome high-waisted retro style bikini from Modcloth that I bought in the sale last year and I absolutely love. I’d been wanting a high waisted bikini forever, preferably one of the…

  • Tough Girl…honestly!

Obviously because I put on a leather jacket I turned into some kind of tough girl, who doesn’t smile sweetly at the camera like I usually do, but pouts aggressively instead. It wasn’t intentional, I swear, but that’s how half my pictures came out!! So as I mentioned before, last week I spent working mornings…

  1. lord oh lord how i love shirt dresses- something about them make me want to go to the flower market with a baguette under my arm, haha. and this one is STUNNING- i love the print on it and the muted colors. the way you styled it was perfect to- the cardi really makes the whole look cohesive and the leather belt was a chic touch 🙂
