Long Bob and Fringe

This isn’t the most exciting of outfits or posts, so I struggled a bit to come up with a title – it’s just an everyday outfit, but I did get my hair cut recently and wanted to show that off! I’ve been slowly going shorter and shorter with my hair, mostly because every time I get it cut, it just grows straight back in within a couple of weeks – Harry Potter style! I last had it done in December because it had got to below shoulder length (see here), and recently it was approaching that length again. My hair grows crazy fast.
So I decided to go a bit more drastic this time and go for “bob” length hair as opposed to the just slightly above shoulders that I usually get nowadays. While I’ve called this post “long bob” (also known as “lob” apparently), I’ve been going round saying this is a “mob” – medium bob. I decided I wanted the layers gone and a blunt look, so went for the length of the shortest layers, then a little extra off too. I also went for the fringe because I do that every so often – I’ll inevitably grow it out and push it to the side within a couple of weeks, but it’s fun for now!
I forget how long I’ve had short hair now, especially since my hair “identity” is still long. I mean, I’ve haven’t had it long since December 2014 – new people at work didn’t even know I’d had long hair! It makes me sad because I love it long, but I also really like it short too and it looks much more presentable on me and is easier to deal with, especially as I’m terrible at styling it and doing hairstyles!
The outfit is quite a standard autumn winter casual one for me for day to day wear when I’m not feeling retro-y. I’ve been alternating a couple of shorter length skirts over autumn and winter, and this skirt makes up part of that Autumn Uniform quite a bit! Off the shoulder and bardot neck tops are my fave because they look slightly more elegant than a normal T shirt but are still easy to wear. One issue that I tend to get though is that they come untucked or roll up sometimes, but fear not! I have a solution to this problem in this outfit. What appears to be a normal off the shoulder T shirt actually isn’t – it’s a bodysuit! This is the first proper outerwear bodysuit I’ve owned since I was little, and I have to confess I may be on the lookout for more now – they’re super easy to wear and stay nice and smooth under skirts and trousers. May be a little too much information, but this one can ride up slightly if I allow the shoulders to slide on, but nevertheless, still an excellent buy. And I got it in the sale – spotted on the ASOS sale page of a website called Love the Sales which rounds up discounts from loads of sites.
To be honest, it’s a little chilly to wear this outfit now…I was stuck at home yesterday thanks to snow and ice! It didn’t look that bad, but it snowed at around 4pm, then melted as the sun was still shining on it, then froze into a nice thick layer of ice as the sun went down, then snowed over the top of it again – a lethal combination as it just looked like a light covering of snow which would be fine to drive on! It was all gone by early afternoon, which was a little sad as I’m hoping for a good thick covering of snow, just for a day then it can go! But it’s still very chilly, so I’m layered up this week in long sleeves and jumpers.

I really like your hair – but then it looks great when it’s longer too. I never think of you having short hair, but I clicked on the Dec 2014 link and realise that it has definitely been longer! Kx

It was a lot longer once upon a time – it was all the way to my hips at one point, but was pretty difficult to deal with then 😀 Thank you!

Isn’t it funny that we always miss our “old” hair no matter what we do?! I do love it short but wish I could have it long still some days – sigh! xx

Love your hair Sian, really suits you a lot! 🙂 Think you suit shorter over longer.
    The outfit is fab too.

Thanks Caroline! I definitely think I suit the shorter now, just sometimes I wish for mermaid hair 😉

Coincidentally I got a fringe cut recently as well! About two weeks ago 🙂

Must be the thing at the moment! I’ll inevitably start pushing mine aside in a couple of weeks – I’m terrible at keeping up with them 😀
