I genuinely loved this book! What a fun world it created, and a sparkly, cute romance too.

Cole works in administration in the afterlife and accidentally reaps the wrong soul – whoops! Instead of an old lady by the same name, he picks out Dell – a young woman in the prime of her life, just about to get married. Forunately, they’re given a chance – if they can figure out where she’s gone wrong on her path, they might be able to right it and turn the tables.

If you’ve read B. K. Borison’s Good Spirits, you’ll note some similarities, however this book completely stood on its own two feet with its own very strong storyline and characters. Maybe the afterlife romance niche is more of a thing than I realised! I mean, it works for me as I love a paranormal tale and I love romance.

The time limit aspect of the plot keeps it moving forward at a good pace. It’s set over the course of a couple of days which means it does have something of an insta-love aspect to it. I’m not always a fan of this but here it worked well; yes, they fall for each other quickly, but there’s always this feeling that they were “fated” for each other.

Cole’s character was excellent. He felt so real with his bumbling human nature, despite technically being dead. He was cute and easy to identify with. The situations that the pair of them got into made me laugh (like being stuck in a freezer while possessing a body), but there were also some highly emotional scenes too.

It was a somewhat predictable story, but hey, you know what, I like that at this point in my life, so it easily gets the full 5 stars from me.
