The Maple Bakery Murder by R. L. Killmore – Mystery Romance Book Review

When an opportunity to read a fall themed murder mystery with a romance falls into my inbox, I know I’m certainly not saying no! This is the 3rd book in the Cinnamon Falls world, and I loved it just as much as the others.

Ginger has recently moved to Cinnamon Falls and set up shop with a new bakery. There is a little resistance in the small town to this, but even more so when the supplier making her delivery turns up dead in her shop, brutally murdered. Along with Austin, she sets out to prove her innocence by finding out what really happened.

I love how the existing cast of characters that we’ve met in the previous books pop in and out so that we see their storylines continuing to develop, and the wider cast of recurring characters – family members, shop owners etc. – are so very realistic. Just like the previous books, I could really envisage the town and its quirky characters.

Ginger and Austin make for a cute couple who work well together. I’d say this book is heavier on the mystery than the romance, which makes it stand apart from other similar books I’ve read recently where it’s the other way around. Nevertheless, they have great chemistry which extends beyond the romance. They both have secrets that they’re keeping from the other (fair enough, they’ve barely known each other 5 minutes!), but they uncover them together and begin to heal from their pasts.

This is a sweet (pun intended!), easy read with excellent vibes. I look forward to more!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publishers for an ARC of this book.
