Highland Getaway by Amber Eve – Romance Book Review
I love love loved this book! Such a sweet story with plenty of fantastic, and believable, comedy twists.
Highland Getaway by Amber Eve is now available to buy, click below! It’s also just 99p at the moment!

Rosie Winter has just landed a fantastic opportunity – to join a team of influencers at a Scottish castle’s launch as a luxury spa hotel. The only problem is that she isn’t an influencer – the similarly named Rosie Summers is, and “Wrong Rosie”, as she becomes known, has accidentally received her invitation. She’s quickly found out, after being locked in a sauna, but they agree she can stay – as the “gimmick” – and she’s drawn into a competition to become the face of the hotel. But it’s not as straightforward as taking a few photos, and she’s soon drawn to the rugged no-nonsense Hunter, jack of all trades around the hotel, to help her figure out what exactly she’s doing.
I’ve read all of Amber Eve’s books – she’s an autobuy author for me – so I was so excited to see that this one was going to be traditionally published and would have ARCs available, then even more excited when I got one!
The exploration of the influencer lifestyle was brilliant. I know Amber from back in the olden days of blogging, so I know that she understands what it is to be an influencer – but both of us talked in our blogs back then about this kind of imposter feeling which has clearly built a foundation for this book. If a couple of us felt this way, then maybe more did?! And that’s exactly what happens here – you have one woman who is literally faking her way through, but the others all have their own little secrets about not 100% ticking all the boxes for being a perfect influencer. It was so realistic. Plus I liked that it wasn’t looking down on influencing as a “fake” job – there were characters who thought this way but ultimately had their minds changed! It’s a soapbox I’m very willing to take a stand on – influencers do a LOT more work than people think!

The romance between Rosie and Hunter was brilliant. It developed well throughout the book, and I adored the relationship with his 8 year old daughter in there too. Their relationship was funny and sweet.
The rest of the characters were also very well written. I always enjoy the motley crew of side characters in Amber’s books as they’re generally very well fleshed out and go through their own character developments and transformations. This was so true in this book, where you see each of the influencers, as well as the marketing manager who’s organising the trip and the hotel manager, in a totally different light by the end of the book.

I highly recommend this read for a light, clean romance in a brilliant setting (as always, the author portrays Scotland in a perfectly realistic way too!).
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publishers for an ARC of this book.
