No Make Up Monday #1

New feature! Let’s have a little explanation of it: I always try for at least one day a week not to wear make up. It usually turns out though that it’s 2 or 3 days, which is I think is pretty amazing haha! I often don’t wear it at the weekends when I don’t see many people except family and Ben unless I go out somewhere, but I’ve been trying recently to have one weekday off every week not wearing make up, and it usually ends up being a Monday for some reason. I have three lectures on a Monday, so I see a lot of people.

So what’s the reason I try to do this? Well, firstly it’s got to be good for your skin, because when you think about it, all that foundation, powder, concealer etc is clogging up your pores, all day long every day. Your skin needs time to breathe and be out in the open air. Also, it can make your eyes sore, and dry out your lips and skin wearing make up all the time. Secondly, I think it helps me prove to myself how far I have come in accepting and loving myself as I am. It helps to raise my confidence in myself because I still get complimented even when I’m not wearing make up, and even if I’m not complimented, at least I’m not being insulted!!

So I’ve decided I’m going to try and make this a weekly feature, so it’ll basically just be outfit photos but I won’t be wearing any make up.

Anyway, I absolutely love this skirt! I think I got it last summer, well about this time last year actually after seeing it in shops for ages and finally deciding that I did want it, and I’m so glad I did get it in the end.
And finally, I did something I shouldn’t have today…went shopping… I did need a new cardigan though, and I got one from Primark, and some sunglasses from Accessorize which I need for Spain. Then there was this amazing maxi skirt in Primark I had to have, and a dress in H&M which I thought I could wear as a top with the skirt and it was cute by itself, so it’s all justified haha!

This outfit is from almost a month ago now – when Ben and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary. We actually didn’t do anything on the day (18th July), because it was the day after my graduation, so Ben had taken the day off and we’d been out for a meal then. But a week…

This is another of my Christmas outfits, wearing another of my Christmas presents! This dress was another item from my parents from Chicwish (see it here) which I was super excited about because I’ve seen lots of US bloggers with items from Chicwish that are amazing and had been really wanting to try some things…

As always, I’m late…yep, this outfit is all the way from Christmas day! In recent years on Christmas, my routine has been to wake up at home with my sister, then spend the morning opening presents, help my mum prepare lunch, eat, go for our ‘Christmas walk’ then head over to Ben’s grandparents where his…

I’ve been very into these kind of jumpers recently – I think you’d probably call them “sweatshirts” rather than jumpers, but the terminology of what’s a sweater, what’s a jumper, what’s a sweatshirt, continues to allude me more and more as our English dialogue merges with Americanisms. Anyway, whatever they’re called – I love them…

  2. That is such a cute skirt! I really like the no-make up feature, I think it’s an important part of the “real” aspect of blogging. I hardly ever wear make up, and when I do it’s a little concealer under my eyes and a little eyeliner. Sometimes lipstick. I can’t stand to wear foundation!

  3. Sweetie,

You look awesome again!! I am loving the skirt, the cute little lace top and your beautifully tousled hair. ♥

Hehe, I think you are so cool to go without makeup. I dun do it often, dun wanna scare the children here into thinking a monster roams their streets in the day. 😀

  4. Beautiful! This is something I would definitely wear. I have a thing for long sleeved black lace shirts and kind of have a little collection in my closet. I love how you paired it with the floral skirt and brown belt. xoxo

  5. You look great – love the skirt teamed with the lace on the top! I never wear make-up, pretty much because I’m lazy but I think I’ll be going with the excuse ‘it’s good for my skin’ from now on!!

  6. I’m your one hundredth follower! Hehe! Your outfits are really cute! I love how you paired up the floral skirt with a solid black color. You think you could follow me back as well? That would be really nice, thanks. 🙂

  7. hey, thanks for stopping by my blog! I love your outfits, especially the daisy one perviously and the outfit on this post. Also, what a wonderful idea to do no makeup mondays!
