Someone Like You

This is going to be pretty much a photo filled post with little talking (at least I’m saying that, it probably won’t be knowing me!), since I’m super busy right now. We ran over at work today and I didn’t get off until 1.30pm (usually finish around 11.30am). I start at 7.15am by the way, just in case you thought I just did like 2 hours at work or something haha =D Technically because I only work half days, I don’t get a break, but today I worked more than 6 hours solid without a break, so I’m pretty tired out and my feet are a bit achy! I work at my dad’s bakery, which sounds like a lot of fun and cake decorating etc., and it is fun, but it’s like a big bakery because we have 30 something shops and it means a lot of heavy lifting of trays and very fast working to get everything done and out on time. It’s hot and thirsty work, I’ll tell you that!!
Anyway, I also have preparation for teaching because I’m going up to the school tomorrow for my final time before I start after my holidays, so I’m trying to get that done, plus I have to pack for my holiday in a week, pack up everything I own to move into my new house (Ben is moving everything in while I’m away), package up a load of eBay stuff and send it, schedule some posts for while I’m away and just pretty much do everything else in the universe. So that’s why this is a ‘quick’ post!!
Yesterday we went out with my mum, her friend and her kids to a local theme park, Flamingo Land. It’s really the epitome of tacky theme parks but it’s always fun! Although we did get a little, ahem, killed by a kids’ ride that clearly was not meant for people over 5 foot because I nearly broke my neck – ah well, still fun!! It was a lovely day too, I was in shorts and a tee, whereas today is super windy and a bit drizzly, yuck.

This outfit really reminds me of Lauren of Someone Like You – I can’t pinpoint a specific outfit, but I think it’s the polka dot skirt and the small heels that do it. I got these heels quite a long time ago, well my dad bought them for me actually! I had a choral scholarship audition at Oxford University (which I was awarded by the way, but I didn’t get through the interview stage – bet you didn’t know I was a classically trained singer!) so we decided I needed to look smart, and in my dad’s opinion, that means discounted designer clothes! I ended up in these shoes (not sure what brand they are), a Calvin Klein top and an Armani skirt, and I’m pretty sure the outfit cost less than £75! They have red soles as well, which I think is awesome =D In fact at my interview, one of the interviewers told me she loved my shoes!
I bought this skirt quite a long time ago in a charity shop, and after searching for the brand, realised it must be vintage. I originally planned to shorten the length, but decided to keep it where it was, and I’m glad I did! I’ve worn it a few times before (see here) and I quite like the length now! It is actually rolled over once in this outfit under the belt because I wanted it to hit right on knee length.
I bought this top about half a year or so ago now – I decided I needed a basic striped top because my others either have a floral pattern or a collar or a bow or something on them, so I ordered this one quite cheaply from Tesco. It’s a bit looser fitting than I would have liked, even though I ordered a 6 anticipating the vanity sizing in supermarkets (tends to happen more in supermarkets in my opinion for some reason!). Luckily it’s not really obvious in these photos where the fit is a little loose – it’s really on the waist, but that’s cinched in with the belt anyway, so I suppose it doesn’t really matter!

  1. Why do you look so angry Sian? You look great in this outfit! And I love that you talk a lot in your posts, when I read them I always imagine a British accent voice in my head, haha, that’s how you sound in my head 😀 Anyway, love this classic look! Black, white & red are my favourite colours and spots and stripes my favourite patterns so this is just WIN-WIN 😀 I’m talking too much, don’t I? :p xx

  2. Thank you for the sweet comment on my blog, you’re so lucky to live in such a lovely area! This is a really pretty outfit, I love the combination of spots and stripes. 🙂 Also, Flamingo Land is pretty fun, though I always fear for my life a bit on some of the more rickety and old rollercoasters!
