Every November, book lovers start asking the same thing: “Will Kindles be on sale for Black Friday?!”
As someone with a Kindle Paperwhite that’s over 8 years old, gets used for around 3-4 hours everyday, and, as of about a month ago, has a little crack on the screen (sad times, but it’s still perfectly readable – I’m just worried it’ll get worse!), it’s a question I’m definitely wondering about.
I’ve also been extremely tempted by the Kindle Colorsoft model for a little while too…
The good news is that yes, Kindles almost always go on sale during Amazon’s Black Friday sale, and this year looks no different. In fact, if you’ve been eyeing the new Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Scribe, or one of the handy Kindle bundles, this might be the best time of the year to buy.
Let’s break down what we know so far, what to expect, and whether it’s worth waiting for Black Friday or jumping on an early deal.
When Is Black Friday 2025?
This year, Black Friday falls on 28 November, with Cyber Monday following on 1 December, although Amazon rarely waits that long (does anyone nowadays?!). If last year is anything to go by, we’ll start seeing early Black Friday deals as soon as 21 November, running right through to Cyber Monday.
So, if you’re already doing a bit of holiday season browsing or bookmarking your favourite ebook readers, now’s the time to start tracking those price cuts.
Will the Kindle Be on Sale for Black Friday 2025?
Almost certainly, yes!
Every single year, Amazon includes its Kindle ereaders in their Black Friday sales. It’s one of their biggest categories alongside Fire tablets and Echo devices!
Last year, the Kindle Paperwhite was slashed by around 28%, dropping from a list price of £159.99 to about £124.99.
And the Kindle Paperwhite Essentials Bundle (which includes the fabric cover and charger) dropped even further!
That makes this holiday season one of the best times to buy if you’ve been waiting to upgrade your old Kindle or you’re looking for the perfect gift idea for the avid readers in your life.

Which Kindle Models Are Likely to Get the Best Deals?
Here’s what to expect from each Kindle model in this year’s Amazon Black Friday deals:
Kindle (Standard/Base Model)
The basic Kindle is usually Amazon’s biggest bargain. It’s the smallest Kindle, lightweight, with a glare-free display, adjustable front light, and weeks of battery life.
Last year it dropped under £80, making it the best deal for anyone buying their first Kindle or a Kindle for kids.
Kindle Paperwhite
The new Kindle Paperwhite remains the most popular choice overall, it’s that sweet spot between price and slightly better features.
It has a larger display, brighter front light, faster page turns, and is fully waterproof. I use mine daily for everything from psychological thrillers to cosy romantasy reads, and I honestly couldn’t go back.
I’m expecting it to fall back to last year’s sale price, or even slightly lower, since it’s been out for over a year now!

Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition
For anyone who loves the idea of wireless charging, extra GB of storage, a warm light and no ads, this is the premium Paperwhite worth watching.
It’s often part of a Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition Essentials Bundle, which includes a fabric case and charger at a better deal than buying separately.
Kindle Scribe & Scribe Essentials Bundle
The new Kindle Scribe is the biggest leap in Kindle tech we’ve seen in years, it’s kind of an ebook reader meets notebook hybrid.
You can annotate graphic novels, mark up your favorite books, or use it for journaling. It comes in different GB of storage sizes, includes a stylus, and often has a two-year warranty when bought as part of the Kindle Scribe Essentials Bundle.
There’s also the original Kindle Scribe, so keep an eye on both, retailers sometimes offer better bundle deals on older models.
Kindle Kids/Kindle Paperwhite Kids
These are the kid-friendly models, basically standard Kindles with parental controls, colourful covers, and months of Amazon Kids+ included.
If you’re buying for younger readers or want to share your entire library with your children, this is a brilliant pick for the holiday season.
What About the Kindle Colorsoft?
If you’re after a Kindle with colour, the Kindle Colorsoft is the one to watch. Amazon’s first ever colour-screen Kindle (the Colorsoft Signature Edition) launched on October 30, 2024.
In July 2025 Amazon released the more affordable Kindle Colorsoft 16 GB version (and a Kids edition) at around US $249.99/£240.
Because it’s still relatively new and positioning itself as a premium model (colour E-Ink, higher storage, etc.), the question is: Will the Kindle Colorsoft be on sale for Black Friday 2025?
The good news is that I think, yes, it’s highly likely! Here’s why:
- Since the Coloursoft line has been out for over a year, Amazon is likely to include it in its Black Friday sales alongside the standard models.
- Colourmodels often get bundle discounts (for example, included cover, extra storage, or in-box Kindle Unlimited offers) as part of sale events.
- Previous pattern: Amazon drops device prices significantly during Black Friday / Cyber Monday, so even premium models like the Coloursoft may receive £/$40-60 off or better bundles.
What to check for:
- A discount on the Coloursoft Signature Edition or the base Coloursoft 16 GB version.
- Bundles that include like a fabric cover, Kindle Unlimited trial, or two-year warranty.
- Retailer listings outside Amazon (John Lewis, Currys, Argos in the UK) matching or beating Amazon’s pricing.
- Shipping and stock alerts. Premium models sometimes sell out fast on day one of Black Friday.
If you’re keen on colour, bookmark the Coloursoft model now, and monitor prices from 21 November onward, that’s when early deals often drop.
Where to Find the Best Kindle Deals
While Amazon will always have the widest range of Kindle bundles and coupon codes, it’s worth checking other retailer listings too.
In the UK, John Lewis, Currys, Argos, and Very usually price match, sometimes with an extra two-year warranty or next day shipping.
In the US, keep an eye on Best Buy and Target, and on independent review sites like ZDNet or TechRadar for verified updates. ZDNet’s editorial team always lists the best available sources for the most accurate information.

Should You Buy Now or Wait Until Black Friday?
If you’re seeing early Black Friday deals already, you might wonder whether to buy now or wait.
Here’s the truth: Kindle prices rarely get much lower than their early sale prices — and Amazon sometimes runs flash sales before Black Friday officially starts.
So if you spot a Kindle bundle that includes extras like the fabric cover or six-month subscription to Kindle Unlimited (it’s so worth it for me!), it’s often worth grabbing early.
Otherwise, bookmark your favourite Kindle models and check back between 21–28 November for the official Black Friday sale prices.
Kindle Deals Beyond the Device
Don’t forget that Kindle ebooks themselves go on sale too!
During Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you’ll find thousands of ebook deals for as little as 99p, perfect for topping up your library.
(And if you love discovering new titles that way, check out my Best 99p Amazon Kindle Book Deals!).
Amazon also often discounts subscription-based services like Kindle Unlimited. Last year they offered 3 months for £7.99, which is ideal if you love reading through romantasy, dark academia, or even a good psychological thriller or two.
My Pick: The Best Kindle to Buy in 2025
If you’re buying a Kindle for the first time, the Kindle Paperwhite still gets my vote as the best Kindle for most readers. It’s waterproof, sleek, and strikes the perfect balance of premium features and price.
The Signature Edition is great for those who want the best of everything, while the Kindle Scribe is the exciting newcomer for writers, note-takers, and real people who just love the feel of pen on paper (without the clutter).
Whether you’re gifting a Kindle this year or upgrading your own ebook reader, there’s really no better time than Black Friday.
Between Amazon Prime Day, last month’s price cuts on books, and the upcoming Black Friday shopping guide flood, this is when you’ll find the best black friday deals on Kindles, Fire tablets, and everything you need to keep your favorite books at your fingertips without taking up any shelf space.
Keep an eye here, I’ll be updating this post and adding more with all the cut prices and best place to buy links as soon as the official deals go live!
